1. You can go too far, 6k pa at its lowest levels with too many monitors is going to be hard to keep under control in the dog and duck ime, I've seen a pa over heat and cut out in a similar situation as the amps didn't like ticking over so low.
 2.
Does that mean that someone read this thread to you and then you dictated the reply? Same thing. If you have time to pick up the instrument, you have time to learn. In fact, you don't even need to pick up the instrument every time. Its not as hard as people think-I could have you reading basics in 15 minutes, and the rewards are great.
I can vouch for Doddy, I am not going to nick any reading gigs soon but Paul got me going and I have loved it ever since, then when I went to the DB it became a real bonus as TAB and DB dont appear to be found together very often which has opened up no end of material that is essential for upright really on the advice given by everyone in the DB/EUB section. My problem is that the theory side of things automatically starts to get looked at with reading so as you learn one thing and it creates two new questions!
 3. I always wonder how many die hard passive bass only users connect directly (or via a wireless ) into an active preamp EQ section? If I put a stock Encore P bass into my Shuttlemax9.2 head I can boost all sorts of stuff and make it sound mega, get that bass home and plug it into a 15 watt combo and it sounds poop!
 4.
Oh I had forgotten about the fills. Only roots for the verses then
I will let you off this time
 5.
Wot, this one..? Bass Clef Game...
Ha that is a new one on me! Oh no I am meant to be walking the dogs, and cleaning the house damn you! I meant this one, it wont open for me in explorer so it might need to be in chrome? http://www.studybass.com/tools/bass-clef-notes/ it has been updated since I last played with ERB options!
 6.
I can manage the rhythm no problem at all, it's the notes I struggle with. I think what I need to do it pull my finger out and push through it. Keep reading new music until it comes quicker and easier.
If you get hooked on the bass clef wizard game online you will be away in no time then!
 7.
I agree. Just because I find them a bit boring after a while doesn't mean they are rubbish. They know how to sell. Write good riffs & keep the groove simple. I myself preferred Van Halen to ACDC as their basslines was equally as simple, but more fun to play when learning.
I am against sales figures as a measure of quality anyway...Justin Beiber for example....but for their songs at that time I think simple was best and I suspect they would have sold less records with a jazzy bass line. Simple can be good and for the life of me I dont know why some simple lines are great and eveything by coldplay, snow patrol etc etc etc is so dull in comparison to Free or ACDC etc etc, there must be more to it than we give credit for?
 8. This is a master class of the rhythym section IMO and there is even a little bit of walking bass if you listen around 3.00, get Cliff going all Rufus Reid on us http://youtu.be/RGlpF9bimpo
 9. I did listen to it all the way through actually thanks, nice latin groove on the other hand this needs nothing more and nothing less, nada! http://youtu.be/1XJkjVMk_oE
 10.
Ha ha, yes you are right, But some loop stations goove not so bad... Check this out. Best http://m.youtube.com...h?v=kd349Df1Ows
Hey dont get me wrong I went to the Yanek Gwizdala workshop!, I dont mind a bit of twiddling but it has to be right for the gig, If I had gone to see Yanek and he showed us a few Coldplay numbers I would have wanted my money back on the other hand AC/DC have done rather well without any two handed tapping, in fact instead of watching one guy tapping Cliff Williams got millions of peoples feet tapping! I dont think they will be too worried about xgsjx's lack of purchases due to a lack of fourths and 9ths missing.
 11.
So if they aint got a nice wholesome haircut you wont lend it ? I usually try and help young kids out, up to a point anyway. I was an uncouth hairy yob myself at that age. Once had a nicely dressed, polite young lad ask to borrow my Bass, thats a step too far really but I let him use it.
The hairstyle alone isn't the problem it is the fact that 100% of the time it is the ones that turn up without any gear and most importantly any manners are always the super cool guys that think the whole event has been set up for them! As I said before if the young band have turned up with a 30watt bass combo I have often lent my amp to them if they are friendly and enthusiastic, some have even had silly haircuts and still lent the rig on occasion
 12. As long as it plays well it should be a nice bass, you could stick a 2 band ebmm clone preamp in it at a later date if it sounds a little bit limp.
 13.
The guys who play only root notes are just so exciting as eating spaghetti without sauce or drinking alcohol free whisky. Best
Yet the bands mentioned so far are far more popular than the typical music created on basses like the one in your avatar, even as a bassist I'd rather listen listen to AC/DC's greatest hits than a solo bassist with a loop station so im not surprised really
 14.
I'm sure it's just the lack of anything for scale, but it looks more like a toy in that photo than the Thumb in the Warwick thread
It does look like the body is too small for the neck doesn't it? I suspect it is smaller than my classic 5? Ooh its like a Stingray 5 without the dodgy pickguard
 15.
I suppose even Macca is guilty on songs like "A hard days night" and "Please please me"
Please please me all root notes? It has some great little walking lines in it and some tidy rock and roll style fills, defo not roots only that one.
 16.
Ooh it's like a Stingray 5 without the dodgy pickguard
Stingray classic 5 with a 2 grand saving!
 17. I haven't changed any of my strings for over a year and that's when I do it and change the battery, probably about due really, my blue and black SR5s have the typical dirty maple finger boards people dislike about them now.
 18.
it's a midlife crisis
Very good, sir, very good
 19. A slightly less obvious female bassist and one I rate would be Charlotte Hatherley, Lead guitarist from the band Ash but she plays some nice bass on her solo albums. She is now in KT tunstall's band as lead guitarist but I bet she could do a good job on bass duties
 20.
I seen where you went with that
I chose to ignore it, lol
 21. Its a good question and certainly a thread I've not seen before, lol
 22. It is live in the studio... at the moment it is being played is live...bleed is bleed, running a lead from the keys to the PA, mic'ing a guitar amp but keeping them low in the mix is just keeping them low in the mix, if they are lower than the signal going in via the SM58s as actual bleed (nothing to do with a studio term, it is still bleed) then you are not gaining anything and if the signal from the keys/guitar is higher than the vocal mic bleed signal then it is no different to what we all do and you mix the levels accordingly. Like I said before that is not bleed it is just putting a bit of keys/guitar in the FOH mix, barring any gig where all the players are in separate closed rooms it is what every band in the world does isnt it? I get what you are saying JTUK, you are putting into the PA what the mics would collect anyway, you can control the gain level to give more than the mics out front but unless you are doing something to stop the actual bleed you still cant reduce the amount of gain can you?
 23.
You haven't played my Ric. At every Cardiff bass bash the "I don't like Rics" have had a go and changed their minds. There are great examples of all marques, just like there are poor ones. Each to his own, and I like playing my own.
This is what I keep hearing but they are being very elusive thus far
 24. The sad truth is from 11000+ members we must have all sorts here (I am not talking about gays here!), I know we have one member that is/was in a facist punk band, plenty of clips with swastikas etc "but he really just liked the music", OK on yer bike knobhead, thankfully I forget who it is. I presume we probably have some nonces in the worst terminology.
