1. Yes you need to drop the 1x10 and just use the 2x12 or 4x10 or 2 2x10s a single 4 ohm 2x12 would be my choice or a fancy 4 ohm cab with various drivers.
 2. Good luck
 3. The shuttle already has a DI on the back so that is covered but I do use a Fishman in front even with a mag pickup.
 4.
I can lend you my EAD 212 if you like. I'm just up the road. It works great for DB being 3-way.
What a nice chap
 5. I keep a speakon to jack in my kit bag just in case either my head or cab went mid gig as my cabs are only speakon so I'd need to reverse it to use some one else's head with my cabs. Certainly worth trying because you would need the bigger cab either way wouldn't you?
 6.
I have a Sadowsky Metro, which I bought after failing to find a Fender Jazz as much as I liked my Fender Precisions. I honestly think that Fenders have been left behind a bit when it comes to active EQs when compared to Lakland, Sadowsky, Nordstrand, Sandberg etc. When it comes to a passive Jazz design, I still think that a good Fender can stand up next to anything. Hell, despite owning one, I have gone off 'expensive Fender clones with fancy on-board preamps.'.
I agree with this, if I didn't have my active box ticked with the Rays I would have wanted an active Jazz which wouldn't have resulted in the usa fender deluxe, probably an xotic or john east in a USA standard Fender Jazz.
 7.
did Leo Fender ever make a Double soap Bar pickup in the shape of a 55-01 with a preamp.? no they didn't. But Lakland did. i think the Fender Fan boy vibe, never really goes down well. like i said I'm not knocking them. there just not for me anymore.
I think we need to give Leo a little nod regarding the Laklands essentially souped up Stingrays which as we know were Leo's design. HH with coil taps were found on the Sabre not long after the Stingray appeared. Didn't Dan Lakin have something to do with musicman in his early days, he used the musicman headstock too which wasn't exactly original was it?
 8. I've used my shuttle 3.0 with my 4 ohm 2x12, you will be surprised how much it can kick out given a good 4 ohm load, I love my 3.0 too and I'd never sell it as its so handy as a backup head, practice amp, DI box etc. Could anyone lend you a bigger cab to try, a 2x12 or a 4x10 maybe?
 9.
If it's a Markbass solid-state power amp, I wonder if the bottom half of the box is empty?
The guitarist in my old band used to put a plate of wedding buffet food in his fender twin to eat while he was packing up.
 10. The far eastern stuff is ok, some Japanese yamahas etc but the cheap stuff ain't as good as the "I love my squier" threads would suggest IMO, great if you are happy with it but for me a good USA bass still had the edge and a top end USA clone is in first place.
 11. It doesn't matter which bass is best, the best basses I've ever played were a Nathan east Yamaha and a celinder jazz update but I've not bought an example of either even though I've actually spent more cash combined on various stingray and jazz basses because well I have no idea really? Lol ,until someone can bottle that magic ingredient Leo sprinkled in things will remain the same.
 12. I've stopped chasing the dream, couple of bits of wood bolted or glued together with strings held end to end, its all in the fingers etc. I rejected two Laklands with minor defects over a flawless Fender Jazz so it's not so simple imo.
 13.
Fad.
Fanned afficionado diehard?
 14. The retailer should just instruct an appropriate repair centre to fix it who will get paid just the same.
 15. Surely they have a European warranty? Contact the shop you bought them from would be my advice.
 16.
Fingers were hurt in the making of this picture!
Owww!
 17.
I never understood why for so many years the Ray 5 had a ceramic pickup, yet the Ray 4 had the lovely alnico ones. I wonder how many people that disliked those ceramic version fives would like them again if they tried them with an alnico pickup?
I love my ceramic SR5, try one in a live mix, brilliant beast of a bass! But then I love a 2eq alnico ray hence the classic and I really like a good old alnico but with 3eq for live gigs hence my 2010 SR5, lol
 18. Most are fretted conversions to fretless ones or had the maple board cut off and a RW one fitted afaik. A 'transition' era one would do you though, same as a pre EB but you can have RW and it will have body contours?
 19.
I'd sell a kidney for that !
If I ever need one I'm sure we could do a deal
 20.
It certainly looks better than the "normal" SR5, and it's good to see a properly finished neck & not this DIY oil finish bollocks.
The neck profile is ace too, flat like an early 80s Ray rather than the clubby shape people think of.
 21.
I daresay you won't be the last to be disappointed by a Stingray 5, particularly if your a Stingray 4 player. However, the classic series fiver is the 'real' stingray 5 and I would love to give one of those a try. Sorry if I have induced further GAS

Love my usa 5 string sub .....only bass I gig now not the prettiest ..never really inspired by the stingray 5 ...I'm dropping some big hints to the other half about buying me a classic 5 ..they are jaw dropping beauty's and I need one in my life !
Im just leaving this here
 22.
I would stick with it for a while. I bought a Stingray and didn't like it at first - stuck it under the bed for six months, picked it up one day and now I can't put it down. Maybe it will grow on you.
I first tried one in 1993, it was awful, didn't know what all the fuss was about!
 23. The newer 2008> Am std basses are much nicer than ones I'd tried (many times) before, I have its 5 string cousin same finish with the 4 ply tort but a RW board, lovely basses, enjoy
 24. I think we have dropped Daewoo here and just adopted the Chevrolet name instead? Quite rare cars here though.
