  1. Yes, I think there's some truth in that. Stadium Arcadium seems to be contentious for some reason, but I like it. People would probably be saying the same about I'm With You if it had been released as a double rather than two singles. If what Rubin says is accurate, given the volume of songs, we could be in for another double release. More RHCP is a good thing AFAIC.
  2. Getting closer. It’s a Raven by the way.
  3. That's exactly what i thought. Six of The Best all over again?
  4. I have to say that I can't see the point of Phil putting himself through it. Balancing it off against the time he would spend behind the kit on stage, it's just not worth it.
  5. Meant to say, nice looking and sounding Lakland in the PBS special played by Daryl.
  6. I don’t suppose you remember which night you went?
  7. @greyparrot- I think this is it.
  8. Just finished watching the PBS Special. I'm not sure there were too many spoilers in terms of song choices as it's pretty much what I expected it to be. I think I'm less nervous about it now having watched that. It did occur to me after hearing the comment that Nik can sound very much like Phil on drums. Surely the the better description would be that he has to sound like Chester given that is the role he has taken over? I was a little disappointed that there were no mentions or clips of Chester in the special.
  9. Thanks. I’ll have to have a look at that.
  10. Rehearsing online during lockdown pretty much saved me from any rust creeping in. I managed to get another band started up during the gig drought and we've knocked three x 1 hour sets into gig readiness in that time. First gig tomorrow (later today in fact) and we've only been in a room together three times. Should be interesting.
  11. No I didn't I'm afraid. I don't want to keep hassling him as I know he is very busy at the moment. I think I'll probably get the photos, the final invoice and a delivery date all at once!
  12. Can it be, if there are two of them?
  13. I would have paid good money to be in the room when someone told Dave Grohl about it 😂
  14. Just to explain the functionality of OnSong, there is a couple of ways you can go about it. I’m fully converted to creating digital documents and importing them straight into OnSong now. It just works better for me. I used to create them within OnSong like this. It’s long winded, but stands out better and emits less light than a white score sheet. You can also auto scroll it, so hit start at the beginning of the song and there’s no need to touch it again until the next song. This is what I’m using now showing tab sheets, set and song selection in the side bar.
  15. In fairness, there may be functionality that the paid version has that I have no use for. All I would say is that if you want a free app that does what I’ve described with minimal fuss and bother, then OnSong should meet your expectations. Plus it’s free and if you get stuck, I’m happy to help.
  16. I’ve been through a few iPad holders in my time. The one I have at the moment, Konig & Meyer, is easily the best I’ve had.
  17. I use OnSong. There may be other apps that do the same, but I like the way I can just scan any document and import it straight into OnSong. Multi page documents are just as easy and you can turn a page just by tapping the screen (I use a Bluetooth pedal). Recently I’ve been creating the documents electronically and importing them in, so need need for any printing. I used to like hard copies at home as backup’s, but I think I’m over that now 😀. If you get OnSong, I’ll be happy to talk you through anything you get stuck on. Although you shouldn’t as it’s very easy. The best thing is it’s all free. OnSong and the HP scan App both have free versions. There is a paid version of OnSong, but I’ve never needed it yet.
  18. Just had an update from Jon. Things have progressed well since the last photo update. He’s going to send me some more images tomorrow. The neck is complete and the body has a little work to be done on the finish, but we’re almost there 😀.
  19. The odds were definitely with you with that assumption 😂
  20. Not bad at all. Let’s say contentious 😀. Yes, I wanted something that was going to be solid through a variety of application. Barefaced, Bergantino, Ashdown, Vanderkley, Darkglass and others. Loads to choose from. Have we ever had it so good?
  21. Uh oh. You said the “T” word 😂. Joking aside, the tone bit of it is complicated when you throw in playing style, strings, bass and amp. For me, the cab needs to shift air, be reasonably light and be able to handle lows really well. Barefaced ticks all the boxes for me and I’ve put quite a few different amps through it. That said, I think us bass players are spoilt for choice.
  22. Ha ha. This sounds like me. My first 5 gigs will be with 6 different bands. I’ve had a couple of enquiries from venues we’ve not played before asking us if we/re free. I do wonder if there is a situation where some bands are not willing to go out just yet which is leading venues to chase bands rather than the other way around?
  23. Yes, I'm three gigs in with a fourth coming up. If one didn't know better, you could easily assume there hadn't been a pandemic, or should you could easily assume there wasn't a pandemic going on still. I have to say, I have a lot more gigs in the diary for what remains of 2021 than I ever thought I would have in January.
  24. The last cab I bought, which was admittedly a few years ago now, was a Barefaced Big Twin II Gen 3. I put a deposit down as soon as they were announced and received one of the first. Speaker size and impedance were big factors for me. I knew I wanted 12's as I had tried 10's before. I also wanted to go 4 ohms for the reasons stated above. You could try speaking with Alex @ Barefaced and telling him what you are after in terms of sound. Alternatively watch this overview of their range.
