Glad you got it sorted @fleabag. Nowhere near the weight you were originally told, but I’m just about to ship a bass that is over 40lb without any packing added yet….and it’s going overseas. I’m glad I’m not paying for the shipping 😂

@SumOne - Bass Direct also have the 5 string J in as used.

Ah, I was just speaking with Bass Direct the other day about getting one of these.... It's the Chuck Rainey PJ and I don't think they make them any more, which is a bit of a shame. They do have the J version as used at the moment, but I really wanted the PJ. That 5'er does looks very nice, but yes, a bit on the weighty side.

No doubt it looks different. Not sure on the usability of the sounds, for me at least.

Me neither.

Would you perhaps consider sharing the gig diary with another bass player? I would consider helping as I dep in a Ska band anyway, but my worry is that my diary is quite full already and would clash with your bands dates if I did it full time. I suppose it depends on what 'lots of gigs in the diary' means and whether you would rather just leave altogether so they can find a full time replacement.

If it makes you feel any better, it looks like both the 4 and 5 string Teal Blue ones are not it stock. Available to order only.

Eating lynch surely? 😂

What's a lunch mob and where do I order? 😂

I’m going to say this out loud because if I’ve thought it, then undoubtedly someone else has…. I’m sure you’re a fine upstanding fellow of the bass playing community, but you might want to think about putting some of your own recently taken photos up rather than using the ones from when you bought it. What I’m saying is that I could have created that advert and for the money you’re asking, it’s probably the least you could do. No offence intended old chap. Just a thought.

I disagree. I don’t see any issue with the title or first post. If you add up all of the comments in all the various threads concerning BD, it doesn’t make for good reading. It’s also not a ‘pile-on’ as far as I can see, as a lot of the members commenting here I have a lot of time for and value their opinions. For balance, I have bought from BD many times over the years and as recently as a couple of months ago for quite an expensive piece of kit, but I have never liked the website and have therefore not used it to buy anything online. For that reason I have always phoned and paid there and then if I wanted something. Again, for balance, I note that some negative comments have been from some people that haven’t physically visited and know how BD works. I know you shouldn’t have to have actually been there, but if you have then you’ll know. Yes, it should be like any other retailer, but it’s not in some regards. My advice, avoid web sales where you can. Ring where possible and pay over the phone. Accept mistakes can and may happen, but don’t expect any grovelling apologies because that ain’t gonna happen. Alternatively, shop somewhere else. Shops like BD are rare and the bass community in the UK would be worse without them.
