2. I think the point here is why dit it get to that point? Is Ampeg lowering their standarts? A good and expensive amp isn't meant to get to that condicion, it's buildt to endure hours of road abuse. It's build to stand in the sun or in the rain on a open air gig for hours and keep pumping bass. It isn't meant to peel off before leaving the store! If he got that way during the shipping how do anybody could expect it would last the trips to and from gigs? I never liked Ampeg (i'm a Trace fan and they ARE buildt like tanks) but i always gave credit to their build quality... until recently...
 3. Could this thread be a wake up call to all of those who think that a bass amp or is a Ampeg or is sh*t? I wouldn't sell any of my s/h gear looking like that! A store trying to get away with this is trully shamefull! edit: maybe Ampeg should have thought about using some of those 8 screws on the backplate to secure the sticker also...
 4.
Sorry but I'm talking about cases where it's uk only bidders or even cash on collection only auctions so it's not thread over
Yeah i see your point but surely there have been cases of UK bidders backing out on a buy or not? If prior to an auction the seller goes to a postal office and gets a european and a worldwide quote he will be increasing his chances of selling his item for a bigger price. I buy lots of stuf from UK because the prices here are much higher (even in the s/h market). What many like me would consider a bargain on ebay would be seen has a bit pricey by UK bidders! Cheers
 5.
Your 3rd in line
Ok, hope the firs two decide they don't like P basses in the meantime!
 6. If you decide to part with your Thumper send me a PM that i'll gladly take it from your hands Cheers
 7. I never took a backup to a gig exept when i was playing some songs and had to take my accoustic along - don't know if it counts. Allways took spare strings, batteries, tools, soldering equippment, contact cleaner spray... and never needed to use it with myself. Had to use it a lot of times with the guitarrist and once or twice with the drummer (i never heard of a drummer taking two kits to a gig, just in case...). I have a lot of care with my gear and with each string change (every two or three months) i give my bass a good clean and a checkup. Never broke a string in 12 years gigging, i'm very lighthanded.

 10.
Did you declare this before bidding and was there a uk bidders only in the listing? I had this a while ago after the buyer bid from portugal when it was clearly uk bids only, paid up quick via paypal expecting the postage to be the same! It's the same when you list as pickup only then you see the winner is miles away and await the " our daughter is at uni can we get it in a few months while we are passing?" or similar crap. See my eBay rant in off topic for more eBay fun
My experiences had been the exact opposite of yours! Coincidently i'm from Portugal and it's a major pain to try and convince the sellers to exempt me from buyers requirements on ebay so i can bid their items. The ones who have done that ended with me winning the bid so they ended winning more from me that from the second in the bid! After the end of the auction i only had to wait for the seller to send me a paypal invoice with the P&P included as previously agreeded! Always had good experiences with buying from abroad through internet! I realy don't understand why there is so much resistance in shipping overseas! If we're talking about amplification i can see that a 30kg package would get realy expensive to ship and it would be a nightmare to pack it safely and properly... I've bought two basses (and a lot of bits and pieces too) from UK witch came in hardcases with a cardboard package and arrived safely without a scratch! edit: you can see those two basses on your left! Sorry for the off-topic and some spelling, just needed to get this out of my chest! Cheers
 11.
How would one check the polarity of a pedal? Cheers Alex
Check around the DC IN plug in your pedal, you'll see something like this: This particular example means that the pedal's polarity has a negative center. You don't need to understand how polarity works, just be sure all your pedals share the same polarity. edit: if the + and - signs were the other way around it would mean it has a positive center. Just to prevent any confusion
 12. The pedals may consume more or close to the 1000mA together. Try removing pedals from the chain keeping the Pork Loin and if the humm stops at some point it's time to get a more powerfull PSU! For both questions: Check your pedal specs, there will be a reference to their power consumption (i think this is misspelled!) in mA. Your PSU has to have more mA than the sum of all pedal requirements! Also, like umph sugested, see if all polarities are right!
 13. I knew they were out there somewere: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Trace-Elliot-Boxer-1...=item3365ed9f49 - mine's the same!
 14. With some pics you could tempt me... oh! and a nice shipping quote...
 15.
My Markbass 1x15 combo was 18kgs.. that's light. You can't say 27kgs is a lightweight cab
My GB STL9.0+STL12T weight a total of 11kg... with 300W available... i think THAT'S light! back on topic: for £50 in the sales section any amp with quality sound (this is the most important) will do just fine! I've used my Boxer15 on stage with a (quiet) drumer, two acoustic guitars and two voices monitored and the bass could be heard on stage by everybody! The audience only heard FOH though... So 15W is good, 30W is even better! etc... You just need to find a make that suits your tone needs! Don't worry about power, just tone
 16. To play with two acoustic guitars you don't need more than a simple practise amp! Even a 15W s/h quality amp would suit you just fine! I can't avoid recommending my own choise, a Trace Elliot Boxer15 - only 15W but a huge punch with great quality - you'll be able to find them in the region of £50 in the sales section or fleabay. edit: it WILL sound a lot better (and probably louder) than your Laney!
 17. +1 on the Promethean. Are you on what budget? Edit: I've just seen you have a Shuttle 6.0 and two GS112... can't you use the head with one cab?
Thought so, gonna have to break the bad news to a friend then.
Take some detailed pics of your friends bass and post them here. Someone will surely clarify that quickly! Don't forget to get the S/N and all relevant info.
 22.
Take a look at EffectPowerSupplies.com. Feel free to give us a call to discuss options or for any advice.
I have one of their PSU's and i like it very much! 3A with 8 plugs. Been holding on just fine! No noises!
 23. I recently got a 400RB-IV in a part-X and i like it's tone. Nicely compressed lows with a pleasant top end - a very musical tone! I'm not going to keep it but i just wanted to post here my good impression from GK gear!

It only comes with two 10" speakers! We all know you need four of them to pair with the 18" for a good sounding bass thunder!
