1. I have a set of Peavey Hi-sis 1's (12" tops) 4 ohm. and two 15" BW hi-sis bass bins 4ohm with poles. passive system If you are not familiar your amp would see 4 ohms a side, you plug into the bass bins where the internal cross over is linked to the tops, from memory they cross over at 180 Hz. These are old now but in good working order, tops only used vocals, larger venues we added bins for guitar bass and drums. sorry for delay in posting pictures but just got these back from my local music shop who over priced them. £250 all in
2. Can't help saying why a 2 x 15" and a 4 x 12" ? Having said that is the amp 100Watt? You could use Kirchhoff's CurrentLaw. The 2 x15 will be two 8ohms in parallel = 4ohms and the 4 x 12" will be 8 ohm speakers in a series- parallel configuration. It’s all maths after that, Without putting pen to paper it looks like you may get away with it. as the higher wattage speakers are the two 8ohms in the 15 cab, but check how the 4 x12 is wired to be safe. I assume four 8 ohm speakers two in series parallel to another two in series. 8+8=16 8+8=16 in parallel = 16/2 = 8 ohm
3. Had one once, a great design with that woody honk. These have got to start attracting more attention as time passes, for the Wenge neck alone. good luck
4. I'm Paranoid about my band gear period, as I also own the PA and Monitors, Lights etc. I set up two basses on stands to acclimatise and tune them prior to going on, and I surround them with things to avoid clumsy people squeezing by. And that’s basically it; there are clumsy people and considerate careful people. You get to know those around you and which are which. Have you noticed the same people packing away are the ones that will just pull a mic lead till it comes free or snaps? They will fell drum and Mike stands in their haste phew!! I gunna lie down for a while, I've come over all angry for you .
5. would still like to get this right, winging it at present just can't hear it to nail it
6. £250 still available,
7. Mad price for a great cab, some one buy it. Then buy my EA amp to go with it. smashing
8. You need to come back and re define your question. Again assuming you mean Big band = Miller, Basie, Heath etc. First thing you need is an MD. This is where you realise you cannot run a band as a democracy. So you need a good guy out front who knows his onions and all sections can respect. Next, you had better hope the musos you have got together can Listen. Listening is the most important skill, then feel. If you are really lucky the MD will teach the brass players how to listen to a Rhythm section and what you are there for. This probably will not happen and each section Sax, Trumpet and Bones will gang together and blame the rhythm section for both speeding up and slowing things down. Because they think they know best and individually have all grown up competing with each other to be the loudest, fastest and highest player. So when the MD has spent a few years trying to get them to play as a section, you may stand a chance they start listening to you. Think that’s enough to be going on with. Is great fun if you don't weaken
9. I'm Just hurting that I bought my first Precision ( Oly white 77) off John East in 1979 for £200 and worse still traded it in 1985 for £325
10. Just Think this cost about £200 in 1975. Hindsight A !! Could i convince the wife £1600 is better off in this bass than in the bank
11. I PM'd you earlier. Interested. Please get in touch.all
12. Any pics of the back of the neck please. Thanks
13. Looks all built down to a price, rather than a vision of what the company should want to aspire to. shame, count me out. Lots of key info missing to back up the designs
14. I have been running the PA in our band for 23 years now ( 4/5 piece functions covers) Just vocals and we use back line so similar. If you get it right and you all are listening musos fine. That means not too loud for the audience or venue. I find having vocals through the PA which is closer to the audience and back line behind, can, with the right attitude, be self limiting. Meaning If you can't hear the vocals turn down your amps. That said Drums can be the thing that sets the volume the Guitar and Bass then has to match. Go for second hand, i would say Peavey Black widows as they are efficient and that means you will get away with a reasonably sized amp to drive them. 15" and horn i use now but gigged hi-sis 12" for years with a 300 watt mono mixer amp. so check out PV Hi-sis range with black widow speakers not the newer cheap ranges, A peavey mixer amp 300 watts a side with graphic are very versitile and can be split to drive monitors if you like.
15. Thanks Guys, the only thing floating my boat at present would be a GK MB 500 fusion. Love the Mark Bass but I have one Cheers

21. Thanks to you guys introducing me to John Meyer this year, On studying Pino's performance, I thought thats a good looking strap. From the video it says Ritter, so checked out their site. Nothing. after scouting round various US bass sites found someone who stated the Ritter straps were actually Neotech Mega Bass Straps. googled those and found a shop in Manchester that keeps them. £29 feels better than my other comfort straps Alan Gregory Music 0161 224 8915 £29 http://www.alangregory.co.uk/music/Neotech_Mega_Bass_Guitar_Strap.html
22. There are a lot of threads on here covering this so have a search around, we have all been in that zone. I held out a long time and used an octave pedal to cover numbers with 5 strings on and as others have stated on here going up the octave is not an option as it upsets the flow. Try a load out in the shops to get an idea what neck profile suits you best. Look at 5 string basses as a different instrument to a 4 string. A lot of manufacturers think they can shove out a bass with an extra string on it. My view is there are good five strings and un playable five strings. Neck profile and string spacing suddenly becomes very critical to whether you persevere. Many companies narrow both ends Nut and Bridge. I prefer 19-20mm at the bridge as this helped me cross over from my 4 string. Try some expensive models even if you cannot afford them when you find one you feel comfortable with, take a tape measure and take notes check out the spec and search for a similar spec in models you can afford, then compare them. The last important thing is practise, put away the 4 and use just the 5. use the B string as a thumb rest for the first few months; you will soon be skipping around on the B for fills etc.
23. The current one is very nice but the rosewood board on yours was to die for.
24. He who hesitates is lost. Well Lozz if I hadn't been prating around on another thread it would have been mine. PM me when you have finished polishing it.
