  1. This was nearly mine but I went for something else thinking it had sold. Free bump for a nice bass from a very nice chap.
  2. Thanks, neepheid. All these years playing passives I've never given it a thought but I bet it's the same idea inside tuners and other pedals; the battery -ve is wired to the ring terminal of a stereo socket but a mono plug in that socket shorts the ring and sleeve together and powers up the electronics. Must remember to never plug my stereo headphones into my tuner input!
  3. A quick question concerning a Musicman SUB fiver that I've just picked up second hand; The bass plays well and is in good condition except for a dodgy jack socket. I've re-soldered the terminals and cleaned the contacts but although that has improved matters it's still not 100% reliable. I ordered a Puretone socket and some new strings from a well known retailer but realise now that this new socket is just a simple mono socket whereas I need one with a third contact which provides a ground connection for the battery when the jack plug is inserted. Is it just a stereo socket that is required and I should solder the battery negative to the ring terminal? Typing this out it sounds pretty obvious but this is my first active bass! Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks for the link, three. They are an easy carry but one in each hand might be a bit awkward!
  5. My chances of getting into a gigging band again are so remote I have decided to sell my rig. This was bought new by me from Bass Direct in 2013 and gigged up until the end of 2019. Covid finished it all for me! I haven’t kept records but the bands I was in weren’t particularly busy so I’d say this rig has done about 50 gigs and no rehearsals as I always used my old TE for that. I have always taken very good care of my gear and never pushed it hard. Condition of head and cabs is excellent. All lights work (never had the missing blue leds you read about with some Streamliners) and all pots are noiseless. There is a light scratch on the underside of the head. Included are the Berg padded covers, the original Speakon and mains cables and even the Owners Manual. You are welcome to the custom made green dustcover and the trolley if you want them. The green dustcover is great and keeps the Berg covers pristine in my clean and tidy garage. The trolley is very strong and is great for moving stuff on dance floors etc. but tbh it’s not great over rough car park surfaces. Anyway, if you want it you are welcome. I don’t want to split the rig and I’m asking £900 for the lot. I am based in south Wales (NP23) and it would need to be collected from here. No trades thanks.
  6. I cringe with embarrassment now but I was young and basses like the Rivoli were seen by some as a bit dated by the early/mid seventies. I took a chisel to it and added a bridge pickup. Actually, it didn't look bad and it sounded fine but its originality was lost forever. If I'd had the sense to leave it alone and hang on to it then it would be worth quite a bit now, I suppose, as it had the original hardcase too. I was never bothered by the shorter scale but the intonation was a bit iffy with that bar bridge. I don't think any pictures survive.
  7. Apart from the bridge and the E logo on the scratchplate this looks pretty spot-on to the '64 Rivoli that I bought in about 1972. I did two shameful things to that bass; the first thing was just too awful to recount a forum like this and the second was selling it about twenty years ago. GLWTS.
  8. That' a corking looking bass! GLWTS.
  9. That's a very nice looking bass but that rear button seems pretty high up - how does it balance on a strap?
  10. If it's just 'badge' engineering this is a giveaway price! I've had a Streamliner 600 for about five years and close to a hundred gigs with never the slightest glitch. It's only bass-players who worry about the name - bandmates just care about the sound/reliability and the audience don't give a $hit what you're using!
  11. That is uncannily similar to GB Streamliner heads - the fascia has a couple of extra push switches but the layout at the rear is identical. A 900 in disguise methinks!
  12. Hmmm thanks... just watched a couple of YT reviews that were a bit mixed. Think I'll stick with my nice OBBM cables!
  13. Watching a band at a local pub recently I noticed the lead player had a nifty little wireless thingy plugged into his Les Paul and its mate plugged into his amp. Sounded great, no cable to trip over and ideal for sound-check as he was also operating the PA. I had a quick word with him afterwards and he said it had only cost just over a ton. I didn't catch the name but suspect it was the Xvive available online for around £110. Any experience or thoughts on this?
  14. Cor - that's humongous! Assuming they are 8 ohm drivers I'm betting it's probably 5.3 ohm altogether. GLWTS.
  15. Why is no-one saying compressor? I've never owned one or any other effect but it's the sort of thing I keep thinking I ought to get without really knowing why. I've watched a lot of compressor demo videos but the A/B difference is usually slight (to my old ears) so would it even be noticeable in a live band?
  16. I'm confused! The first post says 1x1000w Klystron head, the second post says 2x1000 bolted together, the 16th Feb post says "each 2000w head and the photo shows a 1000w head. How many amps are for sale and are they 1,000 or 2,000W?
  17. Very nice - could you say how old it is and whether or not you are interested in trades amp-wise?
