5.
A great sounding instrument, played by a good player, in a great sounding room, mic'ed by a good engineer, with a suitable mic in the right place to best capture it. Printed via decent Mic pres and DA converters. Bust one of those and you might get lucky, more than one and you'll have an inferior recording every time.....
+ position in room too. I still find it amamazing how much a room and your placement within it distorts the recorded sound of an acoustic instrument- even with a close-up microphone.
 6.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6cS26oEX64
Just type pwn between www. and youtube.
Awesome! - Thanks
 7. Yes, that'd be good! - Anyone got it?
 8.
You tube ?
See my final sentence
 9. I tried downloading a track today off iTunes - the track was not available. It was available from USA iTunes, but I'd have to open up a USA account. Same thing happened with Amazon.co.uk - and would not let me purchase said track from Amazon.com. I'm presuming it's just down to copywrite issues, but in this modern world we live in, surely MP3's should be easier to get hold of! The track by the way was nothing out of the ordinary - Little Thoughts by Bloc Party - I was trying to get hold of a copy to get a student to play along to (and has not got internet / YouTube where I teach him). Thoughts? Greg
 10. Will consider trading only for PA related gear (not mixer / amp) or band lighting equipment (with money either way)
 11. For future reference (and cases where you turn up and find you caught in the situation mentioned above) grab a mat out of your car. They are usually waterproof / rubber one side, and carpet on the other. Works a treat! Greg
 12.
My Sei Original 5 headless fretless, or I could be tempted to a Flamboyant equivalent.
Ditto (Sei Original)... or my Status S2 Classic throughneck... I'd have to have a Bass-Off to decide!
 13.
I will buy this. Will need to have it posted. Can you pm me the account you wish payment to go to. I can send a cheque if you prefer. Ring on 07905 160249 if you want to
PM'd
 14. PRICE REDUCED - NOW [s]£30.00[/s] NOW £20.00!!!!! For sale: Heavy duty 4U rack flight case made in England by Freestyle. The case is in reasonable condition for its age. Two things I should point out: There are a couple of marks on top (see image two) - and I have fitted wheels to one of the removable covers (again see image) but two of these have gone wobbly - so if you intend on using the wheels you'll need a quick trip to B&Q first. Other than that, this case has been a reliable and sturdy unit. Made from wood with heavy duty handles, heavy duty corners and edging, finished in black carpet. Collection from Southampton or +£12.00 postage due to size. Thanks Greg

 17. Bump for price drop Now: £40.00
 18. My main amp / rig is a Genz Benz GBE600 with a 212 Neox cab. Has not let me down yet. The only fault I had was the front panel LED (for clip-limit etc) came loose. Mended within about 3 mins. Lots of power and lovely tone with Double Bass, and sweet tight & growly sound with Low B on the five string. I'd like a 112 Neox cab (carpet covered) to take out on smaller gigs - keeping my eyes peeled for one Greg
 19. Korg ToneWorks DTR-2 Digital Tuner With: Large 7 octave range Calibration function (eg A438 - A445) Input and Mute Function Power Lead Good condition - currently rackmounted - top item in picture [s]£50.00[/s] £40.00 collected from Southampton or +£8.50 posed (UK Mainland only) Thanks Greg

 22. Reposted as requested by Dan Short review of the 50-120 set: I usually play 5 string, but often I teach 4 string bass too so I thought I'd post this quick review. Being wary about the thicker gauges, I chose a cheap passive Crafter bass I have lying about to be the guinea pig. The bass was strung with 'factory' strings, and sounded just fine for a bass that would more often than not, just be lent out to students or serve as a teaching instrument if needed. I recorded (very quickly and shoddily) a short bass riff before these strings were removed, and then re-recorded a similar line with the new strings on (MP3 attached). Apart from having to file the nut to get the E and A strings to fit, I only have praise for these strings. The environmentally friendly packaging, the colour coded ball-ends and the tight E-string are all great. The sound is bright, but time will tell how quickly this brightness and attack will decay. The balance and tightness is even across the strings. The slap sound has lots of attach, and a pleasing sound is achievable with a plectrum too. Ideally, I would like to try out a five string set to see how they fair against the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's (45-130) I usually use. For reference, the short recording was conducted with everything flat on the bass (Crafter Congress 4 Passive) and amp (Genz Benz GBE600 with Neox 212) Hope this helps Greg
