1. Hi from across the pond!
2. That's great - hope you enjoy it! After a few gigs with mine now, the leather is becoming nice and supple. Toni at the factory mentioned that once you've settled on a comfortable length it may be sensible to cut off some of the internal 'waste' of the slim adjusting leather.
3. Hi - it depends how low you play the bass. If you need over a meter between the back of your shoulder and the horn of the bass, then it seems (to me) like you have your bass quite low? A picture of you playing may determine this.
4. See my post about Righton straps, they can even make a custom strap for you.
5. After exchanging a few emails with Toni the manager, I have just visited the Righton strap factory in Spain. Although not a retail premises, there are lots of straps to see in the factory and I got to see the production line too. I left with a well padded 'Flakey' bass strap. It is very well made, comes complete with an ingenious adjustment clamp and several pick holders. Happy to recommend.

7. You may find this interesting http://www.patriciajulien.com/non-functional-harmony-patricia-julien.pdf
8. HI All, Thanks for your interest. I put things on the back burner for a while since finding out about the potential clash with the SE bass bash in the Autumn. I'm now starting to look for suitable and cost effective venues for later in the year - probably October or November. It seems like there is enough interest, so I'll get back on this over the summer. If anyone would like to get involved with the organisation too, please feel free to PM me. Cheers Greg
9. These are also worth a look too http://www.jhs.co.uk/brands/diago/diago-twistlocks-straplocks-gold
10. Anyone else somewhat disappointed with the number of exhibitors at this year's show? I was a shame Status were not there, and MXR / Dunlop etc too. I saw John East was there, but not as an exhibitor. Has the cost V's sales pushed a few businesses away? The knitting exhibition on the lower floor seemed 'buzzin'! (looked only as the lift door opened)
11. White Fender P (genuine) 13-screw-hole scratch plate with pickup-to-control silver shielding and Fender date & inspection sticker (2007) (with truss rod hole) Used but good condition Swap for 3 ply BLACK of the same or £28 inc UK postage (£25 collected from SO53)
12. SUPERB seller and a credit to BassChat. Shaun is a fantastic, trusting and genuine gent to do business with - highly recommend.
13. Great hearing everyone's view on this. Perhaps Fodera will come along to the Bass Show...
14.
Bentley, Ford, Maserati, Opal.... well they're all made from the same materials aren't they? Ok, that is a bit extreme, but engineering must count for some of the price difference. I still don't see me buying one.
I guess that's the point. If the materials are the same, and the consequential sound is aimed at representing a 'P' or 'J' sound, then essentially Fodera are stating that their engineering skills, brand and style = justification of price. Without trying one I couldn't commit to an opinion, but I'd probably not buy one either!
15.
In that case please take into consideration that the South East Bass Bash is usually held in late September.
Great point :-) I'll rethink
16. Positive so far, which is great. I'll start thinking some more about the venue and date. My initial thought is early Autumn, but it's just a thought at the moment.
17. 18. Great!
19. Ok, great Gareth! At least two on the list then!
20. Is there any interest in doing a Hampshire & IOW bass bash?
21.
I'm sure Fodera would argue quite strongly that they're at custom shop level. The point I was trying to make is that you can get a better bass (not Fodera) for half the price of a current (especially with the recent price hikes) MIA fender.
Sure, I appreciate they would argue that, but as it says: "built in batch with limited options to keep costs and wait time to a minimum". I'm not having a dig at Fodera, moreso curious to what type of person would be attracted to spending their money on these - when the market place offers so much more for a LOT less.
22. I really like Scott's comment at the bottom of the page.....
"I was waiting for the price to drop on these: 4K for a passive j or p bass with very little customisation has me going all kinds of "ehhhhh", considering you're in sadowsky NYC territory price wise. And leaving you space for a preamp is kind of like selling a Lamborghini with a big gap in the engine bay where the turbo would go. Man, drop the price by 2k, and outsource the labour to Japan, Ken Smith style. People can still "have" a fodera of company monitored quality. I think we all put the brand up on a bit of a pedestal, and this line feels like it's taking the piss a bit"
23.
They're Fender inspired so why not do the same with pricing? :-)
An equivalent Fender in terms of wood, and features is less than half-price
24. Yes, I'm sure Fodera has done the market research to suggest that there will be some people who'll spend $4,000 on a well-built passive P or J. However, I cannot help but thinking there has to be a limit to what a brand / name does to persuade people to spend their money. http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2017/01/08/fodera-unveils-monarch-p-and-emperor-j-standard-classic-basses/ What are your thoughts?
