2. Bump for price drop Now: £40.00
3. My main amp / rig is a Genz Benz GBE600 with a 212 Neox cab. Has not let me down yet. The only fault I had was the front panel LED (for clip-limit etc) came loose. Mended within about 3 mins. Lots of power and lovely tone with Double Bass, and sweet tight & growly sound with Low B on the five string. I'd like a 112 Neox cab (carpet covered) to take out on smaller gigs - keeping my eyes peeled for one Greg
4. 5. For Sale: Alesis 3630 Compressor Limiter - currently rack mounted (good condition) TWIN CHANNEL With Euro power supply / GB adaptor. Collection from Southampton (Hampshire) or + £8.50 to post (UK mainland only) Note: The 3630 is the middle item in the picture Thanks Greg
6. Reposted as requested by Dan Short review of the 50-120 set: I usually play 5 string, but often I teach 4 string bass too so I thought I'd post this quick review. Being wary about the thicker gauges, I chose a cheap passive Crafter bass I have lying about to be the guinea pig. The bass was strung with 'factory' strings, and sounded just fine for a bass that would more often than not, just be lent out to students or serve as a teaching instrument if needed. I recorded (very quickly and shoddily) a short bass riff before these strings were removed, and then re-recorded a similar line with the new strings on (MP3 attached). Apart from having to file the nut to get the E and A strings to fit, I only have praise for these strings. The environmentally friendly packaging, the colour coded ball-ends and the tight E-string are all great. The sound is bright, but time will tell how quickly this brightness and attack will decay. The balance and tightness is even across the strings. The slap sound has lots of attach, and a pleasing sound is achievable with a plectrum too. Ideally, I would like to try out a five string set to see how they fair against the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's (45-130) I usually use. For reference, the short recording was conducted with everything flat on the bass (Crafter Congress 4 Passive) and amp (Genz Benz GBE600 with Neox 212) Hope this helps Greg

8. History of Bass Tuition - A Time Line I'm writing a journal article about the history of bass tuition. In recent years we have witnessed the start of online bass tuition, and also the growth of popular music academy's. What I am interested in is creating a time line of how bass guitar has been taught over the years and throughout the world - starting with the 1950's. If anyone would like to add comments or particular ideas I would be very grateful Greg
