"Style-specific cable design unlocks the full potential of instrument tonalities and provide a sonic signature best fitting your type of music. " ...even after it's been pushed through his signature MXR Overdrive pedal. No expense spared

Cheap parts.

I think his point was that you can have good quality without a great deal of expense, so decent doesn't necessarily mean expensive.
I use Acid Pro mate Craig
The folder you're looking for is probably something along the lines of C/Program files/Acid pro/VSTs then, assuming its installed on drive C on your PC. Cheers.

No, the Line 6 Insane is a super high gain metal guitar amp model- the Behringer Ultrabass feature is just a crappy octaver. Ironically enough, the guitarist in my band uses a patch based on the Insane model for most of his guitar tones- not that useless

There should be a folder where your DAW program is installed called VSTs or something similar- copy and paste the .dll files you've downloaded into that folder. Next time you open up your DAW you should be able to select the VSTs. If you can tell us what DAW program you're using someone might be able to tell you how to find the exact folder if need be.

Job done ...assuming its ABRSM of course. Cheers.

I'd look out for a Boss VF-1 on eBay- typically around £100-£120, midi or footswitch operated, and should be able to cover all your modulation needs ably. When I have some cash I'm going to get a second one!
GAS for 2010 would be a Conklin AC50 string, a thing of piezo-only loveliness :brow:
Surely a Carvin, not a Conklin? Personally, I seem quite fixated on an 8 string guitar. Can I play it? Barely. Can I justify it? Absolutely not. Can I afford it? Nope. Do I want one anyway? Totally. Disclaimer- I would get a long scale one so its practically a bass
A somewhat related question. In my (now on a break) covers band everything was 1/2 step down to help the singer hit some of the high bits. All fine, no issues with that. What would you recommend setting up differently on a bass that I would be using tuned this way? Different strings? Action? anything else. I haven't made any changes, and it seems fine, but just wondering.....
Totally depends on how the bass feels to you. I ended up favouring slightly heavier strings, but that was pretty much the only change- as ever though, YMMV.
In case it's not clear in the photos, the bridge is straight, perpendicular to the body on the lower side - it doesn't look twisted or bent. Is that what you mean?
To me it looks like the top of the bridge is starting to lean towards the floor more than it should- the pics make it look like the lower side is significantly straighter. I've attached an awesomely Painted version to try and show what I mean. I could be wrong though, and even if it is it's a routine job for a luthier to replace.

The bridge looks like it's warping slightly to me- not really an issue yet but be aware it may need replaced if it warps too far.

I used to when I played a 4 string in a band with guitars in D. Got a 5 string and never looked back- I don't see the attraction and it makes it a pain in the ass to play with other people.

Tapewound/flatwound double ball end strings
velvetkevorkian replied to Wil's topic in Accessories and Misc
Status advertise half rounds, flats and tape wound double ball end strings on their website, and the metal ones are SS -
IME Jennifer's approach is excellent, although you can also adapt it by having both feet up on a rung of the stool, which gives you a bit more flexibility with heights etc. Either is far superior to the traditional one leg up on the stool position IMO, which I found gave me intense back pains after any length of time playing.

How the hell do some people treat their basses?!
velvetkevorkian replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
Jeez, it was only a little quip, a phrase, people are getting pissed off with me because of it. Not one person has screeched at me because they are offended by my Helmand Province reference. SORRY TO ALL GLASWEGIANS! I'll be up there in a couple of months, I'll take a look. If you look at my profile in May and see "Last seen 14th April", you'll know what's happened.
We'll be waiting... -
"Core Tone" isn't very important in your bass.
surely people have better things to do with their time..........good grief.
Because getting a load of folk together to talk bass for a day is otherwise so productive... -
The Boss website would suggest not. AFAIK the GT-10/10b were the first Boss multis with a basic looper.

It's a Conklin Groove Tools Bill Dickens signature model, which is made in the far east but is meant to be of better quality than the ones you see on eBay from Tennessee, Galveston and the like. I haven't been able to compare them personally though.

Why do people keep requesting tabs in this forum?
velvetkevorkian replied to Oscar South's topic in Theory and Technique
But that's not what the thread is about. Read the OP. I assume the same logic would apply to requests for notated transcriptions- IE, it should be somewhere else. Personally it doesn't bother me either way but its a bit irritating to see the original question devolve into tab vs notation bickering. -
I use light Elixirs set on my 7 string which I tune BEADGBE- so that's .040-095 or 100 for the standard four, a .032 for the high B and an Elixir guitar string which looks like it must be a .024 for the high E. I thought it was lighter than that but that's the lightest wound single string I can see. Also a .125 for the low B if anyone's interested. Hope that helps. edited to add- that's on a 34" scale BTW. Also, keep some old string handy if you use the guitar string route- I had to thread on a bass ball end to get the top string to stay in the bridge.
Wow,you sound like a complete @rse. Just because some people don't have the time or inclinations to learn songs by ear or read the dots doesn't mean you can think your superior. Oh, and just because you can, its never going to put feeling into you lifeless sterile playing
Wow, talk about the pot calling the kettle black The point being made is, you could argue that tab is neither theory nor technique, so why's it in the theory and technique section? There's absolutely no need to start slagging off other people's playing, especially since he's not said the words you're putting in his mouth. Like the title says, its not a commentary on the relative merits of tab and notation. Chill.
