And did they get your point or just think you were being over dramatic? I mean do you think it will actually have an effect and make them realise that there is a problem?

Came across a Hofner violin bass the other day in a shop. Have never played one before so gave it a go. I always thought they were crap (they still are!) but turns out they're a great slap machine (the salesman was horrified). Maybe could be Mark Kings next unexpected endorsement.

IME horn players are a mercurial bunch. I played in a band where one didn't arrive for a gig. When contacted, he brazenly stated a more lucrative gig had been offered to him the day before. They all tend to arrive 5 minutes before downbeat and leave 5 minutes after, offering no assistance with the PA into which the mic they proffered upon their arrival was plugged. I haven't played with a single player. I always thought the guy in George Thorogood's band looked really out of place.

I wonder if it's a light colour? As I mentioned earlier, light coloured basses look daft on me.

Thanks for the replies. Budget can be upped if needed, but to be honest i cant imagine anything better than the Blood Moon i already have. It works of battery if needed, has 3 knobs and from what i can remember its deeper and more lush than anything i got out of the TCE Helix or previous Phasers. Im just using it for a gentle bit of movement on a few songs so dont need anything with loads of features.

Does anyone here have a sax player in their band? I've got this idea... I'm forming an 80s covers group with a drummer and a guitarist I've played with previously in different bands. I am allergic to keyboards and keyboard players, but I hear sax on a lot of the decent songs and some keyboard motifs would be great recreated by sax... But I've never played with a sax player before. How do you find one? What are the pitfalls of having a sax player? Are they happy sitting out the bits where there's no sax? Is it possible to get just one or so horn sections only travel in groups? Any advice, experiences to share, as well as horror stories, very much welcome! Thank you

In my last blues band the guitarist starting wearing a hat that gave him that SRV look, so I can forgive him that as he did look cool (and had the 'LICKS' to back it up). Baseball caps I can't abide! Worked with a guy once who I never saw take off his baseball cap, day, night, restaurant, on a plane. On one occasion we were waiting for transport in an army canteen, he still wearing said cap as we eat, an army guy walks in, I can see the immediate rage in eyes, walks over, takes the cap and puts it straight in a bin. Brilliant. Should be made a standard policy.
