Private Shop was on Boughton back in 1980ish... I remember the moaning in the Chester Chronicle. And me and Jock used to nip in there for amyl 😁

No masking tape, it doesn’t seem to stain anything which is varnished but if the bass body was pale in colour I would’ve been careful not to get any on it. All I did was lay the bass on two flat cushions with a strip of kitchen towel on top of the cushions, cleaned the fretboard with lighter fluid and a microfibre cloth, then caked on the Montypresso with a rag and rubbed it in. Made sure there was a really thick coat everywhere and left for 24 hours. The Montypresso is so thick in consistency that it didn’t drip or anything like that. So I now have a much nicer looking fretboard with no anger from the wife due to stained cushions/table etc.

Cultural appropriation and covers
Agent 00Soul replied to DF Shortscale's topic in General Discussion
You mean with the political stuff? Basschat has pretty strict moderation that shuts down most partisan things. People get around it by discussing more general philosophical topics, although they do too get shut down from time to time. I’m 57 and it can definitely seem like a time machine to the early days of the internet around here. -

Big Low End started following Have you sucessfully darkened a pau ferro or laurel fingerboard?

I’ve made drawings and had these made by a toolmaker out of aluminum. Then I found someone who anodized these in black for me..

I got the Montypresso and left it on for 24 hours after cleaning the fretboard with lighter fluid (I need to use the bass today so couldn’t leave it on for 48 hours). A remarkable transformation, exactly as hoped for. The Pau Ferro could now pass for rosewood. Thanks for the recommendation.

Keep the 2x10, but buy a 4x10 of the same make and impedance (assuming it's 8ohm). That way you've got teh option of a 2x10 for small gigs, a 4x10 for medium and effectively a 6x10 for big ones. That's what I do!
