  1. Past hour
  2. A mod classic with one of my fav basslines
  3. It's good, but I think it misses some key points. Janek and his wife Chelsea address it very well here, especially around how "we have no evidence that fakery is bad for self esteem", except we have a litany of evidence in young women and facetuning:
  4. Yes of course 👍
  5. Sneeze The One - Robbie Williams
  6. Snot unusual - Tom Jones
  7. Photo added as per marketplace rules above.
  8. Yes, it was called Charles Foulds and Son on Irongate in Derby. I bought my first Cello there.
  9. bogie nights - Heatwave
  10. Bought this used a few weeks ago from my local music shop for £100. I’ve gigged it twice since. It’s in great condition with original box. It really is a fantastic pedal for the money. I had grand plans of building a nice board of singles but I’ve decided to just stick to multiFX. It has Velcro on the back but the original sticky rubber feet are also in the box if you want to stick them back on. Yours for £95 posted to Mainland UK. Thanks for looking Alex
  11. We're down to our last few days, so I think we have 15 bass players plus one very significant other who may or may not join us for lunch (though she is very welcome) and may or may not bring mutt (that's the dog, not @bigthumb) @rwillett @bigthumb+ 1 <-- Vegetarian @neepheid @ead @80Hz @GreeneKing <-- Vegetarian @stevie @nekomatic @ossyrocks <-- Endless tea @peterjam <-- Eats anything, likes small children. @doomkeeper @Frank Blank @zbd1960 @bagsieblue <-- Vegetarian @Mottlefeeder <-- Vegetarian I count five vegetarians so that leaves 10-11 non vegetarians. Thankfully we have less than twenty otherwise I run out of toes. I'll ensure we have a collection of circa. 30% vegetarian pizzas and the rest a range of fairly mild pizzas up to quite spicy ones. As I have no sense of smell, though I can taste but its reduced, I tend to go for the spicier one. I do not judge people here I'll also get some salads, 300 tea bags for @ossyrocks, 4 gallons of milk for @ossyrocks (do you want sugar as well?). We'll have the village hall from when I drag myself out of bed, say 07:30 to around 16:45 or so on Saturday afternoon. We can park on the road outside the village hall. Can I ask that people unload and then move their cars please onto the main road please and not park behind the village hall as it is in use for other things and I have to live with the neighbours for another year. There is power in the hall but you might want extension leads. We have loads of tables and chairs. Any questions please ask. Rob
  12. I am being really brave. I am adjusting the truss rod on my Telecaster (guitar - sue me). It is at the body end. I have slackened the strings. I will confess to having initially turned it clockwise to bend the neck to provide more space for the strings to swing. Don't judge me, I am learning. How hard can it be, right? So anyway, I am now turning it anti-clockwise and getting less of the string buzz. However, I seem to have run out of road. The screw end bit is sticking out in such a way that the neck will not sit in the neck pocket. But I am still experiencing string buzz. The bridge is maxed out upwards. The guitar used to wear flatwounds, and I have now gone to 9s. I like to shake it up now and again. The neck is SUPER fat C shape. 26mm from the face of the fingerboard to the back of the neck. Do I just need to accept that something this chunky is going to need something heavier than 9s to provide a bit of fight to tame the neck? Or am I missing something here? TIA, as usual.
  13. Nice bass. Most likely those bartolinis are multicoils. Neck pickup may be a triple coil (dummy coil under the two, can be used with single coil to remove hum).
  14. Today nipped out to Andertons as they had a couple of second hand Markbass amps, plus I wanted to try out the MB Mini CMD 121 combo. I've been playing a theatre residency with a back line provided, the Ampeg micro-stack was recently replaced with a Little Mark lll amp and 1x15 cabinet. The latter has really impressed me, despite the Ampeg looking so much cooler onstage. Markbass Mini CMD 121 combo - decent bottom end, amp responded well to attempts to create a rock / plectrum sound or softer finger playing. Good at higher volume but less clarity on lower notes. There were no NY cabs in stock, but this gave a sense of what the MB 1x12s can do. Trace Eliott Elf 1x10 - having read other peoples comments on this, was keen to give it a go. Tried 3 different heads, but just couldn't get on with it. Orange OBC 112 - it was ok with the Orange head, but felt it really came alive with the two Markbass amps, Little Mark lll and 58R. Excellent bottom end, coped well with higher volume. Ultimately, am looking for a set up that can be used at home, rehearsals and gigs with the option of running 2 cabs at 4 ohms. I really would have liked to try the New York 121 cab and sense this might be the best option. I bought the Markbass Little Mark lll amp. Am pondering either the Markbass NY121 cab or the Orange 112, there's plenty of second hand ones out there. Am wondering if anyone else has been using different makes of cabs and amps?
  15. Right Ear, Right Nose - Fatboy Slim
  16. Quite excited ... a big package arrived from China 8.00 this evening. ... neck, fingerboard, bridge, end spike, tuners, the whole lot to do the bass all in one. What was I expecting? Well £200 spent on the whole shebang - what was advertised as 'ebony fingerboard' and 'nice maple neck'. I was dubious. What did I get ... well amazingly ... a bloody great chunk of what appears to be rather nice ebony. Sure there are some slightly lighter streaks - but really, barely visible. The neck is indeed maple, and even has very faint flaming. Sure it's fairly roughly finished and needs a fair bit of sanding all over, but it's really not bad at all. They have left so much spare wood on the neck heel that it's going to be a fair old job trimming it all down accurately - but better too much than too little I suppose Photos tomorrow.
  17. I had one, it was absolutely awesome. Great basses.
