"Root admin" eh?
C'mon Steve, Spill the beans

PS is there a "Fifth admin" too?
I was out with some friends, including a lady who was 'the plan' and pretty much in the bag as it were. Nice lady, but the second glance you give her might not be for the 'right' reason. Her much hotter friend I'd not met before comes up and says to me 'I hear you play bass, what do you have? I've got a washburn.'. Total ah dammit moment. Stuck with the bird in the hand, worked out pretty well for a bit. Still wonder what could have been though.
You could go and see her band and, afterwards, ask her which input socket she prefers, how much compression she uses, preferable scale length, and how loud she gets.

:)
Hummmmmmmmmm Joe Jackson was right, it is different for girls....

Patronising?
I suppose so....Ah well
Goodness, Lighten up.

We've covered this subject a number of times,
It's not at all childish as "getting women" is often cited as one reason for playing in a band. Indeed for playing any instrument.
Sure it's usually lead singers who get the attention but that's the point of the thread.
If she happens to suggest a love based on trust and respect, tell her I've been wasted since last week...
I met both of my major 'significant others' of the past seven years through playing live...

No.

Never.

Unfortunately for me my "rock god" on-stage personna is simply that - an on-stage personna.

Once the music is over I'm a shy and retiring bloke who wouldn't recognise a come-on if it was sat squirming in my lap...

Also I don't get the people who have commented that they use the their band to get away from their wife/girlfriend/SO. For me music is pretty much the most important thing in my life and I couldn't even contemplate being in a relationship with someone who wasn't as enthusiastic about (mostly) the same music as me. Maybe that's why I'm single...

Playing bass is having the opposite effect for me.

SWMBO doesn't 'get' my will to learn and play bass, so am on a solitary trip music-wise. Don't worry, I haven't been dumped, she just doesn't 'get it'.

Then again, she never 'got it', when I was skydiving, flying gliders, surfing, skiing, climbing and paragiding.

Oh there was a girl who my singer tried to hook me up with. Her name was Angela, she was all blonde hair and red lips and tits, and as dopey as you can imagine.

This was in the USA, and she first asked me what I was doing over there (having just seen my band perform!). I told her I was working at McGuire air force base as a stunt pilot.

"Oh really? Wow!" she cooed.

I went on to tell her that I was an English Language graduate and to combine my two loves I became a specialist in skywriting, and that my post at McGuire was in order to teach the American pilots to punctuate correctly. Because cursive is fairly straightforward once you've got the hang of flying the plane, but semicolons are hard to write and often pilots who can write one don't know where it's appropriate to use it.

Etc.

She stood up to about half an hour of this before making her excuses and backing away.

Only the most enthusiatic, stalker level, fan will want to see you play every single gig and, personally, I'd not want one of those as a partner ...

Plus when you have kids and big jobs outwith the band it just isn't possible or practical.
The cool list in the band in order of getting the girl is:
Lead singer
Lead guitarist/Drummer

massive space
The bass player

Anyone else except the keyborad player

huge gap
Keyboard player

There are exceptions to that rule.. (when the bassist is the lead singer) so they are technically the lead singer
LOL  Spot on! Never been in a band yet where the keyboard player got laid :)

Our old keyboard player did alright with the ladies despite being horrifically nerdy, having extreme panic attacks every time he smoked weed (but still insisting on smoking weed all the time) and being named Lambert.
