best velcro for a pedalboard

ive heard the 3M dual lock stuff is the best but its damn expensive!
is the standard velcro brand any good or is there an even cheaper alternative that fits the bill??

any pointers would be most appreciated ; )

Seriously, I've tried various velcros, and they were all cr@p. Main problem was that the adhesive wouldn't stick to the pedal(s). So I marked out exactly what I wanted, made sure all the cables fitted, then drilled the holes and used self-tappers through the pedal board, through the base plates, and into the effects unit casings. I picked up some 3M dual lock fairly cheap on EBay, it really is the best & it's not an area I'd look to cut costs on. I stopped having to reattach my pedals every time I opened the case. It is pretty strong stuff & yet if pulled hard you can take the pedal off the board pretty easily

I use the Velcro brand Heavy Duty Velcro. Cost me about £25 for 5 metres, and works great. The only pedal I had any trouble with getting the Velcro to stick was with my Digitech Bass Synth Wah, but I pulled off the rubber backing and stuck it straight onto the metal and it is fine now.

Annoyingly enough we used to have loads of dual lock at work and now that I need some I don't work there any more! Oh well, anyone have any idea where I can get some without ordering it off the Internet? I need it this weekend really so does b&q sell it?

Amen.

I bought a load of this from B&Q after using the standard stuff which didn't do the job. Everything has stayed in place since, and it took an in human effort to get my Morley Bass Wah off the pedalboard.
I'm sure there are a few products that will get the job done, but would definitely recommend this stuff.

Hobbycraft or any good craft shop will have good velcro.

I got 1 mitre of Velcro Heavy Duty for @ £7 odd. Enough to put 2 strips across the board & plenty for my pedals (2 moogers, a moog exp pedal & a boss chorus) & still have some left over.
Cheaper Velcro has rubbish adhesive, so avoid unless you plan on superglueing it on (now there's an idea?).

My FM-4 broke last weekend, and I wanted to take it off the board to have a go at fixing it. Foolishly, I had covered the entire back of the pedal with velcro, and when I tried to get it off, I couldn't. It honestly took me 5 minutes to pull it off, and in the end the velcro pulled off the back of the pedal and stayed attached to the board, and I ended up with the pedal in my hand. Quite strong stuff. I can pick up my board and then turn it upside down and shake, and everything stays firmly stuck to the board.

Ive tried all different types of Velcro and even used cable ties but find these to be a god send,
They look like a link of a chain, using the existing screws on the place of the bottom of your effect attach it then self tapper it to your board an the effect is going no ware ! , looks neat and doesn't leave Velcro glue on your pedal if you decide to move it. looks a bit like tis fitted :
