pantherairsoft
Just got home from the final mix and mastering of our new EP. It's been a lot of hard work, but I think we've managed to create something varied, current and commercial enough to appeal to a few audiences. Got to road test the mix on a few stereos over the next day or so just to make sure a wider spectrum of speakers agree with the mix, then it'll be there for all to hear Some awesome vocal talent on this one as well (Duke01 & dWyZaK tHe ElEvAtOr) which really brings some of the new material to life. Excited and really quite proud!

pantherairsoft
Cheers guys. I'm really excited about. Was amazing to get Dwyz on the mic as well as he tends to stick to decks, producing and making music vids these days... But he is an amazing MC. Loads of Moogerfooger action in everytrack and some crushing parallel splitting sub and Dubstep wobble to be heard We did it all live again as well with little after editing (other than the vocals). All the bass was played live and the drums only had 2 snare strikes we did anything with (a nice delay). Keeping analog alive!
pantherairsoft
It's here folks... http://ourhelicalmin...album/analogftw Hope you like. Anyone interested in the instrumentals of the tracks with vocals, drop me a PM. I'm particularly happy with 'The Threat Of Reason'

xgsjx
Had a listen. Excellent stuff! A bit different from what I was expecting but very catchy & great sounds. I really like that pingy blippy sound on Barcode Babble, how do you get that?

Only BigDug is traditionally in 'our' style, although The Threat Of Reason is a very very different track with regards to feel if you take the vocals off. Heres a link to the instrumental version - http://soundcloud.com/ourhelicalmind/the-threat-of-reason-1 As for Barcode Babble - Thats all Boss Slicer over that section (Bank 3, preset 6, running at 80bpm). xgsjx
Do you split your signal so one remains intact & the other gets chopped up or is it just the way the slicer does things?
pantherairsoft
No, one of the slicer patterns is a deep tremolo with those beeps added up top. Its the only pattern that has anything like that in it. That track is bass - Phaser - Chorus - amp (distortion added on one section) and then the slicer added to that intro groove. Basically its a modulation nightmare where the waveform is concerned. Most slicer patterns are designed to run at 120bpm and above and slowing them down makes them all sound a bit similar, however the odd one sounds rather interesting when you slow it down… Like that one! xgsjx
I thought it was your ring mod to start with on a split signal. Now there woudl be an interesting thing. Split signal & one side going through the slicer & then into the ring mod then LPF, other channel going through the OC2 & what ever else. Could give an interesting result (or maybe just a crap one ). pantherairsoft
Certainly going to be 'interesting'! I tend to run the ring mod after LPF - seems to be against what most folk do, but it works for me!
Skol303
Just a sneaky link to a thread I've posted in the 'Recording' section about a dubstep track I'm planning on entering into a remix competition. Yeah, I know.... I'm being greedy by mentioning it in two threads! But I thought that some of you dubstep fans might be able to help out: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/155995-remix-competition-seeking-brutally-honest-feedback/
fatgoogle
Really liked the new EP. I prefer more to the last one really. Seems to be more power behind it IMO. Does anyone know if anything like this is already in the market. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whvNhkC4Skg This would be my ideal pedal for what i want. Especially if it could be sent a click from a metronome or something which could then be halved or doubled.
xgsjx
Yeah I saw that same homemade LFO the other day when I was trying to find just a simple CV LFO.
phil.i.stein
quick clip of me messing with the source audio bef pro with an expression pedal (somewhat over-judiciously ) i'm still getting to grips with it, but hopefully you get the idea. the portamento/fuzz sound comes from the octavius squeezer (trapezoid wave). i had to be gentle with the o.s. as it is prone to glitching.
Yeah I've seen it a few times. Looks interesting. I know I've said it a million times, but keep eyes open for a 2nd hand MP-201 (now it's been discontinued!) - Even just as an LFO generator its the best in the World! I've seen them go 2nd hard for £200 on eBay - I bet the pedal in the vid would cost you over £100. fatgoogle
So a moog mp-201 is the solution again it seems.
xgsjx
Once I can get the funds together, a MP-201 may well be right after the octaver. Still want to hear the new Markbass octaver. Phil, that is a pretty sweet sounding pedal, The hothand seems like a very clever invention.
yep. although you needn't be impressed, the expression pedal can be assigned to the speed parameter, and in my case i hooked the bef to a midi output from my mates computer (although at home i use a drum machine with midi output). the speed of the minimum and maximum depth of the expression pedal are then in synch to the beat, (including beat divisions in between the min/max) so i cheated ! ...you can tap a tempo to a beat too, in case midi is not an option (i.e. playing along with a live drummer etc..)
