Hi! First of all sorry for my english, I'm from Spain.

I bought this phantastic bass from a guy on Talkbass, and I asked him three times the scale of the bass. He told me that he was shure that the scale was 34". When the bass arrived at my home, I saw that are 35", and I have little hands, so...

The bass is in like new condition, the only thing is the neck pickup with some strings mark.

These are the specs:

- 5 Piece maple/purple heart neck
- Rosewood Fretboard
- Swamp ash body w/ Blue Burst flame maple top and matching head/heal plate
- Custom Skjold/Hipshot Hardware (A-Style Bridge) adjustable from 17mm-19mm spacing
- Passive tone control, 4 way selector for running each pickup alone or in series/parallel, and volume control
- Skjold/East custom preamp (Bass Boost, Treble cut/boost + ultra bright switch, mid-range and mid frequency)
- Neutrik locking jack, strap locks
-Scale 35"!!!!!
-Width at nut : 38mm
-Weight : 3,7kg!!!!

The bass sounds and plays phantastic, from close to a jazz bass to a more modern sounding like a Fodera Monarch, and have a very good balance.

Here you can hear some clips:

www.soundclick.com/popibasskjold

The background music are from band in a box. All clips are recorded without EQ and effects, except the last one, with the bass direct to a recorder, whithout amp or DI.

1-Chamaleon: Sound flat in active, two pickups in series.
2-Jaco: Bridge pickup, half boost bass, a little boost low mids, and a little treble cut.
3-Reggae: Neck pickup, boost bass and low mids, a little treble cut and the pasive tone at half. I play with palm-mute
4-Slap:Two pickups in series, boost of lows and treble, a little cut in low mids.
5-Slap modern: The same than 4, but more exaggerated and with the bright switch.
6-Tapping: The same than 5 but with a little reverb (boss me50b)

Can send more pics, these ones are from low end shop, where the guy who selled me bought the bass.

Price: SOLD

I'm now open to trades, for a light 4 stringer jazz bass type bass(+ - cash)

$1800 is about £1,100 - Which you paid for it 4 months back

1500 Euro (let lone the starting price of 1800 Euro) is about £1,340

It's a lovely Bass and Skjolds are superb I agree, I may be out of order but I like to think we fellow Bassists at least treat each other fair and square!!....

I love the Bass but do not particularly like being taken for mug without knowing it!! and I wouldn't like anyone else on here to be either!!!

Importing into the EU involves, obviously shipping costs ( high from the US to Europe) and also import duties and VAT around 20% coming into the UK, not sure how much it would have been into Spain. No taxes would apply on this bass coming from Spain to UK and courier costs are much less.

Really think you should facter these costs into your calculation before accusing the seller of 'taking you for a mug'

The price is what I paid. 1800$ + 150$ of shipping: 1950$

1950/1,4= 1392€+ 19% (VAT+tax)= 1657€ aprox

Plus 30€ more from take it from customs in my car (130km from my home).

I never played this bass, cause at the first moment when it arrive I saw that are 35" long. You can send a message to the talkbass seller, he can tell you the history. He told me three times that the bass have 34" scale.

For me it's enough loose 200€ or more and wait a long time for the mistake of other. And I would have returned the bass, but I would have lost the money of the vat + tax (more than 250€). This is not a business for me.

I actually do not think the shipping has anything to do with it..

The price is the price! Shipping is something we all have to face losing.

I'm actually looking for a Skjold or a Nordstrand they are fantastic which is why I looked at this in the first place.
Ok maybe I should have kept my mouth shut, but that's not me - never will be.

I totally disagree with you - and it's usually me chinning people for being 'at it'. We all know stuff is generally cheaper in the States but that is somewhat offset by the shipping and other import charges. What it costs you is what it cost you. If he'd bought it from a dealer in Spain they would have had to pay those charges and have added it onto the price. In which case, I assume, you wouldn't have said a thing?

It's fair enough to call people when they have been blatantly untruthful, but I don't see that here. Sorry!

Lovely bass by the way.... good luck with the sale :)

? Am I really wrong? I think you should be glad at the very best to get your money back on anything you buy these days. What are your options if you do not sell on here? Ebay!! How much would it go for on there?? Ok it's not on there so it's not really a valid point, but all the same.

I think it's a great Bass and its a good price but seeing that I knew I had seen it before and found the thread, it annoyed me a little..

I still think shipping is a deductable irrelevant cost.

But......... I apologise to Mr Cheese if I am wrong and I am sure whoever buys it will be over the moon. As I say the build quality and time Pete puts into these is amazing.

Good luck with your sale.
