SimonPLights Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I've just ordered myself a new 5 string Spector and will need a gig bag for it. The Sire I'm returning has such a nice gig bag included that I'd keep if I could get away with it. The thing I like about it is that when there is no bass in it, it does just flop in to a pile on the floor - it's that semi-rigid EVA style material that retains its shape. Any suggestions for a good gig bag (ideally £60 or thereabouts) of that style? Would need a front pocket that could take a few cables and a mini pedalboard (HX stomp and 1 other small pedal) Looking at this https://thebassgallery.com/collections/gig-bags/products/tgi-extreme-bass-gigbag Quote
PinkMohawk Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Take a look at Thomann's offerings as well, they make some very nice bags. The cream of the crop is their Safecase 80, though it's double your budget, but it's also got the Mono Tick style attachable bag, and a decent sized front pocket, plenty of padding, etc. I think there's been videos on Youtube of those bags being tested, chucking them out of 2 story buildings with guitars in and the guitars survive, though I might be misremembering that. 1 Quote
Mudpup Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The TGI Extreme bags are very good value but just check if you're getting the updated version or the older one if you order one. I think they've changed the handle design - the old one is a one piece and the newer one may be a two piece. A bit geeky I know but it would make a difference to me. I have a Thomann SafeCase 80 and it's bloody brilliant. The little accessory bag it comes with is a genius idea and sounds perfect for your pedals. I've got all my cables and bits in it. The quality is great and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. I also have a Gator Pro Go which is equally good and has tons of useable storage space. You would get your pedals in there easily I think. They're both double your budget but you're getting a lovely new bass and they're top quality bags - I would treat myself......it's just the cost of a couple of sets of strings more. Oh and they both fit a 35" scale Spector in. 1 Quote
Hellzero Posted January 19 Posted January 19 The Protection Racket 7051 and the Fender 1225 are around £80 and excellent. That said, the TGI Extreme you mentioned at £60 is a good option too. Check the ads over here as there are often some excellent models in your price tag. 1 Quote
casapete Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Maybe have a look at the ‘Fitted Foam Bass Guitar Case’ on the Gear4Music site. I’ve had mine for over 10 years and it’s been fantastic, lightweight and yet sturdy. The best bit? £39.99 😊 2 Quote
Lozz196 Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I had those Gear4Music ones for my guitars and they were very good, not just for the price either. 1 Quote
Marvin Posted Sunday at 10:43 Posted Sunday at 10:43 The Gear4Music fitted foam cases look identical to the Kinsman ones I've had. They are fantastic for £40. I've had mine for 15 years and are still going strong. 1 Quote
lemmywinks Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Based on wot I own: If you're on a budget - TGI Extreme. Can't buy a better quality gigbag for the money. If you have loads of stuff - Gator Pro Go. I got all my cables, power supply, IEM setup, batteries etc in the main pocket, a 10" tablet in the dedcated inner pocket and my Fishman preamp in the top compartment. If you want a super premium but slim gigbag - TGI Ultimate. Not just an upmarket version of the Extreme, it's a superb gigbag and rock solid. I also have a Gator Pro Go X (now renamed to Transit) which is also good, possibly a little bit nicer than the TGI Extreme but unless you get it in a serious sale it isn't great VFM in comparison. I recently got another Extreme for my Parlour bass (classical guitar model) and it has the solid handle, was from Absolute Music despite them advertising the new one on their website and eBay store with stock pics. Agree it's nicer than the two piece version so might be worth asking. Quote
lemmywinks Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The TGI bags don't have much in the way of storage btw, just a slim pocket on the front which is more for cables and other small items. I'd be looking at the Pro Go or even better the Thomann one with the separate accessory bag. Like buying a Mono Tick but you get a free gigbag thrown in. Quote
Norris Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have a TGI Extreme. It's a very nice bag, although as @lemmywinks says the single front pocket is not very deep. My main issue with it is the handle, which is kind of zipped together but without a zipper tag on it. It came undone, there's no way to do up again, so it's now bound together with duck tape. Quote
