Maude Posted December 23, 2025 Posted December 23, 2025 (edited) It's that time of year again, the time to watch this fantastic piece of nostalgia. https://youtu.be/rizRsvBluAA?si=XiqUs8EC6-aLKCpr Edit, well that all went wrong. Accidentally posted the version of Chas & Dave's Christmas Knees Up with the horrible Jim Davidson, tried editing to the version without but it won't let me embed it. Apologies for any of offence caused. I'll try again later. Edited December 24, 2025 by Maude 5 Quote
tauzero Posted December 24, 2025 Posted December 24, 2025 Looks as if embedding is blocked (there's no "og:video:secure_url" in the page source - https://www.codegenes.net/blog/embed-youtube-code-is-not-working-in-html/). Quote
Jonesy Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 We watch it every year and absolutely love it. Just people in a studio drinking beer from mugs and having a great time whilst listening to top tunes. The funniest bit is when that couple fall over while dancing! Quote

Sadly, I'm old enough to remember when the general consensus of opinion amongst the British public was that Jim Davidson was hilarious and anyone who took exception to his routines was an eccentric weirdo. I don't think Jim should be edited from history though. Better to leave him in it and let people face up to what was considered perfectly okay at the time. 1 Quote
Mickeyboro Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 (edited) Im about to put this fascinating volume onto Marketplace if it catches anyone’s interest… PS Guaranteed no Jim Davidson content - if I see any, I will tear the offending page out! Edited December 28, 2025 by Mickeyboro Quote
Sean Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 (edited) That rendition of The Sideboard Song never fails to impress me. They were amazing. I saw them twice, once years ago with Mick and then in the last 20 years or so at Chelt Town Hall. I remember being absolutely transfixed by Rabbit. They both had a very impressive pedigrees as session musicians and, although I've never seen the evidence, Dave Peacock swore that Chas Hodges was a much better bass player than him. jonno1981 Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 Back when I worked in a guitar shop we had a lady enter the shop in clutching a shopping list at Christmas. She confidently asked for a “Jim Davidson Wahwah pedal”. Chortle. Quote
