Very clear sound vs original but the bass seemed pushed up very high in the mix and Phil Collins' drums too low (very obvious on title track). Need to give it another listen, along with the second 'LP'. Quote

Mostly wonderful, frequently revelatory, but occasionally puzzling..! The hiss at the end of In the Cage. The remixed vocals on ‘32 Doors’ which totally changes the harmonic centre of the chorus. The completely MIA low synth swoop on ‘…burn it to ash’ on Back in NYC. There’s some strange choices. Otherwise… great. 1 Quote

prowla Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago There's a current trend for reissues/remixes/remasters and some can be great whilst others just plain aren't as good as the original releases. The Giles Martin Beatles ones and Steven Wilson's reworking of Deep Purple Made In Japan are standouts which demonstrate what can be achieved in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing; Led Zeppelin's Houses Of The Holy is also surprisingly good. Others seem to be geared towards boosting the treble for someone who's played their system so loud they've blown the tweeters and as a result can sound pretty awful on a decent system (Dio's Last In Line and Alex Lifeson's Victor are examples). I've not heard The Lam Lies Down, so can't comment on that; however, my general comment is these reissues/remixes/remasters can be quite variable. Quote

Sorry just listened back quickly (skipping over tracks), it was In the Cage where I thought the drums were too low. My first listen was using earbuds on a flight... so not the best testing circumstances! I will listen again properly to the whole thing before opening my gob again 😅 Quote
