jeffjohnson Posted Sunday at 17:25 Posted Sunday at 17:25 This is for sale locally but I can't work out who it's made by, any ideas? Quote
Schnozzalee Posted Sunday at 19:06 Posted Sunday at 19:06 Id snap that up and find out later. The body has a mastumoku look. 4 Quote
Pea Turgh Posted Sunday at 19:09 Posted Sunday at 19:09 I agree 100% with @Schnozzalee’s statement! Quote
binky_bass Posted Sunday at 19:25 Posted Sunday at 19:25 Looks like schaller tuners and bridge with possible dimarzio pickups. Good components, also Looks like a set neck. Depending on price, grab it and work it out later! Quote
PaulThePlug Posted Sunday at 19:31 Posted Sunday at 19:31 Aria?.. https://www.creamcitymusic.com/vintage-aria-scroll-headstock-violin-bass-sunburst-mij/ Quote
binky_bass Posted Sunday at 19:46 Posted Sunday at 19:46 Couldn't look further from the bass on that link! This bass doesnt really have a scroll headstock, its more a 'folded over headstock. I'm sure I've seen it before somewhere... A google image search didn't find anything similar either. Would be interested to know what this is if anyone does identify it! Quote
ezbass Posted Sunday at 19:48 Posted Sunday at 19:48 Burns did the folded over headstock thing, but not that body shape. Looks short scale too, to my eye. Quote

Looks like a one-off to me, probably late 70s when symmetrical (neck-divey) bodies were inexplicably popular. I'm pretty confident neither Mats nor any other Japanese factory would've used that headstock on a bass like this. Not sure that's a Schaller bridge - looks a bit like a 3D but the proportions don't look right. Maybe something like this, from around the same era & loosely based on the Schaller. Apart from the actual rollers! 1 Quote
