noirpunk Posted September 18 Posted September 18 Hello all, I'm want to modify a Harley Benton Beatbass to be able to make a half way house between Macca's two most famous basses, his Höfner and Rickenbacker. I'm looking for some pickup suggestions - I'd like some Rickenbacker voiced pickups that are drop in, or would require minimal modification (for example, making my own pickup rings). Any advice gratefully received 😁 Quote
AlexDelores Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Interested in this too. At some point I’d like to upgrade my Gretsch, from what i can see, I’ve only seen that TV Jones offer a few mini humbucker options… https://tvjones.com/bass-pickups/ And, i think Seymour Duncan also offer a Mini Bass Humbucker. Can’t comment on any of them as it’s just from my own research rather than experience. Quote
pn_day Posted September 19 Posted September 19 Might be worth looking at retrovibe to see if he has any that are the correct size. https://retrovibe.co.uk/product-category/parts/pickups/ Quote
TrevorR Posted September 20 Posted September 20 Also have a chat to Steve at Catswhisker… they make great pickups and are very amenable to tweaks. https://www.catswhiskerpickups.co.uk Quote
PaulThePlug Posted September 20 Posted September 20 (edited) Warman Firebucker? Or, These Roswell's would look smart on a beetle bass and keep it in tge HB family https://www.musicstore.com/en_GB/GBP/Roswell-Pickups-LGM101-N-CR-Gold-Foil-Mini-Humbucker-Neck/art-GIT0053231-000 Edited September 20 by PaulThePlug Quote
noirpunk Posted September 22 Author Posted September 22 Those Roswells look a bit lovely! I might put those on another one of my violin basses Quote
