2018 Fender Japan 60s P, very light * £750 delivered * Sale only, no trades £775 LONDON

Incredibly light, back-friendly Fender Traditional 60s P bass bought at start of 2025 from FenderFever (see ad below with pics and specifications). Great workhorse bass, ideal for longer gigs or if (like me) you have back or neck issues.

 

Has a few dings and dongs here and there on edges etc, nothing egregious, and I added DiMarzio creme DP122 pickups (£95) for a Martyn Casey of The Bad Seeds/1980s vibe. The original Fender Japan pickup will also come with the bass. Comes with new Fender padded gig bag (if you wanted to sell on the DiMarzio pickup and gigbag you could probably get the net cost below £700, just sayin').

 

Selling as the usual too many basses and my Geddy Lee Jazz isn't moving (looks like I will end up using it just for home noodling).

Addendum: if you are not bothered about the TI Jazz Flats, I could swap for some nickel rounds (DR coated Dragon Skin or Pure Blues 40-100) and drop the price by £25

Been asked a couple of times about the neck profile (which - being Fender Japan - isn't a traditional 60s US profile, despite the model name!)

 

Its 1.65 inches (42mm) wide at the nut, so its basically close to the modern P bass (1970s onward; 1.625 or 1.65 inches) in nut width rather than 1950s and 1960s style 1.75 inches (44.45mm). The blurb says its U shaped (see below) and it definitely is more of a handful than my Jazz bass depth-wise (Edit: c22mm deep in first position, see photo). The finish on the rear of the neck is not thick gloopy varnish so its easy to slide around from position to position without getting 'caught'.

Anytime you want a bass driven up to Scotland just say the word Sir, I have delivered a couple up there, just ask @cetera. I have friends who need visiting so driving a bass up gives me an excuse.

Actually, having said that, I quite fancy this myself, although there is something about cream pickups that gives me the judders, mind you, easy enough to sort out.

I have the black covered Fender Japan originals - 10 minute job with a soldering iron 😉 and you could flog the DiMarzios for say £50-60
