HeadlessBassist Posted June 14 Posted June 14 (edited) Fender introduce Limited Edition Laura Lee Jazz Bass. I don't know if anyone clocked the 'Empire Music' video that came out before this new bass appeared on the Fender Websites, but it's nice to see Fender supporting another female artist. If the Mexican Blu DeTiger signature was anything to go by, this will probably be very good. Basically a Mexican made bass with vintage tall tuners, Dimarzio Ultra Jazz Pickups, concentric volume/tone controls and dual 'talent inhibitors' (pickup covers!) Oh, and it comes as standard with flat wound strings. All that's really missing is a nitro finish, but you can't have everything for your £1400, can you? Edited June 18 by HeadlessBassist 2 Quote
JJMotown Posted June 14 Posted June 14 I like the irony here, as she plays a SX copy of a Fender. Though no Chrome's or dimarzio pups, hipshot tuners, so other than the colour isn't an artist bass at all. 3 Quote

It's all marketing, obvs. But yes, you're right about the irony - Fender make signature model just to make the point the real thing is a bit better. And hey, Laura Lee has had an upgrade. That modified SX was her first bass in High School. 1 Quote
Reggaebass Posted June 14 Posted June 14 I don’t know that much about Laura Lee but I have watched quite a few videos as I like her basslines and style, In one of the interviews she was playing a stack knob custom jazz and not her SX 1 Quote

Clarky Posted June 14 Posted June 14 (edited) Fender made her a custom version of her SX Jazz replica (ironic!) in 2022, so its legit that she has a Fender sig bass even if the genesis was a replica Edited June 14 by Clarky 1 Quote
Lozz196 Posted June 14 Posted June 14 Pretty much like Slash with his Les Pauls, a sig version of a copy, nowt wrong with that imo 1 Quote
Clarky Posted June 14 Posted June 14 That said, Peach Guitars has a couple in for £1400-odd and they weigh around the 10 pound mark. Even with covers on, that seems toppy to me on both counts 1 Quote

Prices of basses (same as everything else) have gone mad. Seems a little heavy - my 2016 Elite Ash Jazz is a shade under 9, apparently. Must be all that iron work she has in the talent inhibitors.
