AndyTravis Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Iām at a point where Iām looking at rigs - I love my orange OBC112ās - but theyāve no Horn and now Iāve got 2 bands on the go, one really needs that tweeter āclickā. Ā Has anyone got experience of the Digbeth gear? Ā I see the 500w heads kicking about at Ā£250 ish and they intrigue me. Ā but also the cabs⦠ will they do slappy stuff as well as indie/rock⦠ Iāve been using Ashdown ABM cabs with rootmaster heads at one rehearsal space - and all the cabs at the room a knackered but having used RM heads before, I know theyāre pretty capable. Ā not sure what to do - Iām in a position where Iāll have to sell current rig to buy another⦠   Quote
MichaelDean Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I love my Digbeth head. It'll do everything. It's so easy to get a good sound out of it. The tilt control is the secret sauce. You can make it darker or brighter with that while keeping the same base tone. I'm confident you'd be able to get a good slap sound from the amp.Ā Ā Not tried the cabs though, so can't comment there. Ā @DoodĀ had them in for review.Ā Ā Ā Ā 4 1 Quote

Dood Posted March 31 Posted March 31 @AndyTravis, thank you. Itās all too easy to say āit means a lotā, but genuinely, I really appreciate feedback, of course positive on my videos.Ā I do everything myself (except for edits to my final renders by the digital guy); Iām still learning how to create and edit videos, even if I have spent the last 30+ years obsessing over everything bass and technology. Obsessing really wouldnāt be an overstatement. I have issues š¤£Ā I just want to create the kind of videos I want to see. Iām far from perfect in delivery, but Iām getting there. Ā Many a time Iāve nearly given up on it as thereās a real apathy or lack of engagement - maybe thatās my fault, but itās really hard to capture enough peopleās interest. Iām not pretty and showing a bit of flesh isnāt an option, which for many seems to be the way to go in the absence of any real quality material, so losing a battle from the off when people would rather āengageā with something that requires less investment.Ā Ā So, Iād really appreciate if anyone watching my videos can at least give them a like to show your appreciation. Better still a supportive comment. Following my socials and the magazine channel would really give me a boost. Http://www.YouTube.com/BassGearMag Ā and http://www.instagram.com/danveallbassist Ā Iām also on Facebook, my page is DanVeallBassist or the OG profile /DoodOnBass is still alive.Ā Ā 4 Quote
BassmanPaul Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Why not just add a bright box to your existing system. It would cost far less than a new speaker system.Ā Ā Quote

la bam Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I had the Digbeth head and 4x10 vertical cab.Ā Ā Great amps. All the cabs are different though (410v) (410 box) (212) so check out what's best for you.Ā Ā Great heads, I'd buy one again definitely.Ā 1 Quote
MichaelDean Posted April 1 Posted April 1 You could also give the plugin a free trial to get a flavour for it. It's pretty close to the real thing and they've got IRs for all of the cabs. https://auroradsp.com/plugins/laney-digbeth-db500 1 Quote

stewblack Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I have played through the Digbeth at last year's SW Bass Bash and it's really sweet. Incredibly versatile and simple. I'm skint these days so settled for the preamp pedal, fed into the effects return of any amp it does the job. Highly recommended. However the best cabs I've played through without doubt are the LFSys built by our very own @stevie specifically because of the way they handle the high end. 2 1 Quote

In all honesty, itās a lot of messing about when there are other pre-made cabs that do that job⦠ I donāt like pissing about with speaker cabs and amps. Ā if itās not doing what Iām after, just sell and move on. Ā To be fair - I like these orange cabs. Ā so I might just find another cab for the other band with a tweeter and crack on. Quote
