Even it were a B15, I imagine it’d be the same format as the other BassRigs so the cab sim would not be defeatable on the XLR in engaged mode. From the teaser, I’m thinking it might be more like a Marshall recreation for guitarists (and maybe bass). 1 Quote
krispn Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Yeah I think folks are alluding to it being a Marshall type. Trying to think of the link between those artists in terms of a bit of gear. Quote
Quatschmacher Posted November 14 Author Posted November 14 Well, well, cross reference this list with the teaser photo! https://www.guitarcenter.com/riffs/gear-tips/amplifiers--effects/history-of-the-ampeg-b-15-portaflex-bass-amp#On_Wax:_Famous_Tracks_Featuring_the_Ampeg_B-15 2 Quote
MichaelDean Posted November 15 Posted November 15 And it's a bass you can see in the photo. It'd probably be a Les Paul if it was a Marshall. Quote
Quatschmacher Posted November 15 Author Posted November 15 Im quite glad I’ve just sold another preamp as if this is the B15 it’ll be an instant purchase. 2 Quote
Linus27 Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Exciting times and they say the pedal will be available to buy on the 18th 😮 1 Quote
Quatschmacher Posted November 15 Author Posted November 15 (edited) This is a 6SL7 tube, the ones in a B15, so that pretty much confirms it! Edited November 15 by Quatschmacher 7 2 Quote
jimbobothy Posted November 15 Posted November 15 … I think I’ll have one of these on my shopping list also 😎 1 Quote
markorbit Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Might have come at a good time for me. I was a little underwhelmed with the previous BassRigs (and the non-defeatable cabsim) but I will be checking out the videos on the 18th for sure. 1 Quote

Pretty sure the format will be the same, though would be nice if they have taken onboard the feedback about that and adapted the format. 2 Quote

You think about it QM asked about this pedal and they said it at least a 2yr development cycle but that’s not to say it was already well into development. Looking forward to hearing the demos of this one and just had a couple of pedals sell and a refund from Thomann!! 2 Quote
Quatschmacher Posted November 15 Author Posted November 15 I’m curious if they’ll have a mid control as the original didn’t. Also wonder if they’ll cover the two most popular circuit variations that were present in the heritage reissue. 1 Quote

I just sold one preamp last night and will possibly sell my Super Vintage; together that might just cover this. 1 Quote

Wonder if maybe they’ll add the ultra high and low switches from the later models and have the 64/66 control where the mid control is on the other models. Could be a continuous blend or a 2-position knob and still keep the appearance of the rest of the line. 1 Quote

I can see them doing a similar move as with the bassman bass rig having that similar type of ‘mode switch’ tweed/Blk. Be cool To see the styling too 2 Quote

ra0ulduke Posted November 15 Posted November 15 If that's really the case, that's very good news. Quote
Quatschmacher Posted November 16 Author Posted November 16 What would be quite cool is if the middle bottom knob were a headphone output volume control (with cab sim) as B15 has no mid control. Quote
HoorayForAnonyms Posted November 16 Posted November 16 This is great news. Glad to see your campaigning paid off @Quatschmacher 😬. So glad I held off from getting the Supervintage and ‘64 Black Panel! 3 Quote
LawrenceH Posted November 16 Posted November 16 FWIW Origin's justification for not making the cab sim defeatable on the current bassrigs, from a conversation via social media, is that it just doesn't sound great - I think a spitty/fizzy top end. Their design philosophy appears to be to minimise bad-sounding possibilities even if it removes some flexibility. I vaguely remember suggesting a carefully-chosen LPF could give a less coloured alternative to a full cab sim. Very interested in what this new pedal offers. 4 Quote
jimbobothy Posted November 16 Posted November 16 ... when I had an email conversation with them about it regarding the Blackpanel '64, their design philosophy was to recreate a specific sounding amp/cab combo, not a general preamp type thing. 1 Quote

TBH I want the cab sim on the jack out too - not just the DI. 😆 Edited November 17 by Nickthebass 1 Quote
