glassmoon Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Hi all, So, in 2024, with the glut of Line 6 gear out there - among maaaaaaany other brands on the MultiFX shelf... is anyone still using a BOSS GT-10B? I used to own one - loved it - and stupidly sold it (GAS is a crippling affliction that so many of us suffer from). I'm interested if anyone still uses one! Julian aka Glassmoon Quote
uk_lefty Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 I'm in the same boat, had one... Maybe I bought yours?! Sold it... Now going to the new ME-90B. I loved the preset sounds on the GT10-B but found the programming overwhelming. 1 Quote
Owen Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 I watched someone use one in a gig. I saw fretted, I heard fretless. I have often thought about picking one up just for that. 1 Quote
glassmoon Posted July 2, 2024 Author Posted July 2, 2024 I used the software that was recommended and it was pretty easy to navigate and do what I needed to do... after a lot of trial and error. The fretless, as you mentioned @Owen, was pretty convincing, and a huge win for doing ballady type stuff. I really enjoyed that could blend everything as if I was running through a parallel FX loop - so my bottom end never got weak. There were so many great pros... I just wasn't using it enough to warrant having it - boy, do I regret that decision now. I guess though... for the price you can find one (between £150 and £200 on eBay)... it's less than half the price of say an HX Stomp, but not too far away from the aforementioned 90B... so, do I just bite the bullet and get the New Blue Boss? @uk_lefty, what is the software like that you can use on the 90B? Conundrums aplenty. Quote
Baloney Balderdash Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 (edited) No, but I do use and love my Zoom B1Xon multi effect, which was release just about 5 years later than the Boss GT-10B, in late 2013. So also a fairly old digital unit. The distortion and amp modeling frankly sucks though, but a lot of the rest of the effects sound genuinely brilliant (and the distortion effects can still be used as special effects). I use it mainly for reverb and delay effects, but most of the modulation effects sound excellent as well. It is worth to notice that some of the much sought after digital reverb effects are of even older date, so CPU power is not everything, what matters to a considerably larger degree is how the algorithms are done (of course somewhat depending on the specific effect simulated/emulated, distortion and amp modeling does seem to be more demanding in order to sound realistic). uk_lefty Posted July 2, 2024 Posted July 2, 2024 @glassmoon my new Boss unit won't arrive until late this month so I've not bothered looking at the software yet, unfortunately. What I like about the ME-90B is the knobs and dials, easier to tweak those than mess around in digital menus, I don't have the patience to learn all of that. I found my Helix made me spend more time experimenting with sounds than actually playing bass, most likely my own lack of discipline than anything else but even so, I'm expecting a much more intuitive experience with the ME90-B. 1 Quote
glassmoon Posted July 2, 2024 Author Posted July 2, 2024 Yeah, I would love an HX Stomp - it's so small and packs a mighty punch, but the learning curve for me coupled with the price makes it an uncertain option. I really miss my 10B, for what I really got out of it... and I figure the 90B would be somewhere in the same ballpark... Quote
uk_lefty Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 There's a GT10-B on eBay at £159 or best offer. I have no affiliation to the seller, etc. Quote
visog Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 (edited) I've got one too. Use it as my sound interface/card and for a bit of limiting. Programming on is a breeze on a PC although the levels and multiple gains over an effect-chain can quickly get out of hand/noisy. The public sound library I think still only has two contributions from Boss artists. Both terrible. As is the tracking on pitch-shifting and the tuner. So a bit of a mixed feast with some quite distinct positives and negatives. ** Edit my comments refer to a GT-1B not 10B sorry ** Edited July 3, 2024 by visog 1 Quote

I'd love to play with one again for a few days just to see how good or bad the sounds are Quote
NoirBass Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 I’ve recently been gigging my GT10b again. It’s got a really nice set of stock effects. Still sounds decent today. The parallel signal chains are really useful. Compared to the latest L6 and even Boss 1k offerings though the ‘amp modelling’ is a way off as are the drives, but for everything else it’s a good one stop shop. 1 Quote
glassmoon Posted July 4, 2024 Author Posted July 4, 2024 Yeah, that is what I've been thinking too... BTW - I don't remember... in scene or patch mode, I can flip between Scene A and Scene B, can't I? I need to see if it's viable for songs where there is one patch for the verses and another for the choruses... my Zoom MS-60B allows me to turn a drive on and off using the line selector. I just don't remember now LOL Quote

Yes, it’s really two parallel pathways; A or B, but you can stick whatever you want in each path. Best plan is to have a core tone and add the extra bits you want into pathway B. You also have a tonnes of assigns with the Boss stuff so you can change the settings of all the effects in your chain using a single click of the CTRL pedal. Edited July 4, 2024 by NoirBass Quote

I've done this before... damn, I'm itching now for one of these... or do I save for ages for the HX Stomp LOL Man, I need a life Quote
uk_lefty Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Well, we are all different but I went from GT10-B to HX Stomp, separates for a good few years, now going to the Boss ME90-B. Quote

Interesting that you're going from the Stomp to the ME90... I've looked at those... they look amazing. Wondering if they have the functionality too Quote
uk_lefty Posted July 5, 2024 Posted July 5, 2024 I ditched the stomp a few years ago and have been using various individual pedals since. I just found the Stomp mind blowing for how much it could do but I was barely using 1% of it's capability. Quote
rmcki Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 I have the owners manual for the GT-10B, if anyone needs one drop me a PM Quote
Amj8831 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Hi All, I have a gt-10b in excellent condition that's been gathering dust, and am open to selling. I'm not much of a musician these days (2 kids etc) so considering replacing with a line 6 pod express just for a bit more plug and play capability. Agree with folks above generally that the functionality is great but takes a bit more effort than I can spare these days. I will eventually post a for sale piece but feel free to message me direct in the meantime to express interest. 2 Quote

Les Eckhart Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Hey guys !!! Just signed up to this site ! I have both, the GT-10B and the ME-90B. I used the GT-10B for years, then I got the Boss GT 1000 Core and that's great, and I put together a great pedal board after I found a Boss BCB-1000 suitcase pedal board for 1/2 price. I bought the ME-90B around the same time I got the Meris Enzo X and Future Impact V4 VIP pedals along with a Pog 3, so the ME-90B sat in my music room on a shelf until Christmas 2025. I'm REALLY HAPPY I pulled it out and finally played it and learned how it works !!!!! (It didn't take long) I've been putting sounds on the Boss Tone Studio, and hope more people do too. It really is a great pedal !!! Now of course it can't do what the Meris Enzo X and certainly not the Future Impact, or the Boss SY-200, but, for a lot of our songs, the ME-90B has very useful sounds, and the presets I set up are great !!! The GT-10B is really heavy...lol But it's definitely still a fantastic pedal, even in 2026. I do want to do a side by side, which I haven't done yet, but if you guys want, I'll get to it sooner then later if yer interested ? The app for the ME-90B makes it easier to program, although you can easily do it all on the board itself. It's so fun coming up with crazy sounds though, which I originally loved about the GT-10B. My GT-1000 Core does sound so good, and I'm used to it, and it's nice and small, so I'm on the fence on what I want to do because I have most of our songs flushed out with sounds I made from the synth pedals. It is crazy that the ME-90B comes decently close to "Some" of the sounds from all those other pedals though. In a pinch the ME-90B would be fine and it would just sound different, but the idea of the sounds would be there....well for some of the songs. We're trying to do a techno type of thing, which is where the Future Impact comes in along with the MXR Synth, Enzo X and SY-200. I guess I can just bring those pedals out with the ME-90B, but I'd have to put them in a different case, because I don't think the ME-90B would fit with the rest my pedals in the case I just got, so I'd have to decide what to do. After 2 back surgeries, weight is a huge factor as well, which bites the root...lol Anywho, sorry, I know this was about the GT-10B...lol I guess if youz have questions, please let me know, I'll see what I can answer, because I'd like to turn ol girl back on !!! In previous questions, I think some asked if it's worth it to upgrade to the ME-90B from the GT-10B, and I'd right now say definitely, but I didn't do a side by side, but I really enjoy using the ME-90B, and it sounds excellent !!!!! A wonderful all in one multi effects pedal. It has great tones from enough amps & cabs, has pretty much every effects you can think of, and it has a wah pedal you can program pretty much anything to, and it has synth sounds that when mixed with any of the other effects, creates a world of great sounds, and it has an XLR out. Oh and it's lighter, oh and has a looper !!! Hehehehehehe Besides special synth pedals, I can't imagine needing anything else, and in most people's cases, it's more then ever needed, and super intuitive to use !!! Again, hit me up if you have any questions. Have a great day !!! 😁👍 Quote
