Owen
I find myself taking a bunch of students to Barcelona. My life is so hard. Can anyone suggest any live music venues or activities there? I will look at listings, but you might just know of a venue where the music is hot etc.
musicbassman
Barcelona is the home of the St Andreu Jazz Band, one of the finest schools for young jazz players in Europe. You might get lucky and find there's a concert on somewhere, but maybe this would be a bit off the mark for your students. Barcelona is a great city, sure you'll be able to find plenty to do 👍

I got a firm no! Pity because I ended up buying the same model/ colour in the UK and didn’t sound as good as it had looked in the Catalan sunshine. tayste_2000
https://jamboreejazz.com/en/ https://www.instagram.com/marulacafe/?hl=en https://marulacafe.com/bcn/ Been to both, both have killer jam nights, musicians get in free for jam nights assuming you have an instrument on your back or your Spanish is good enough. Marula is more cutthroat than Jamboree but if you can get on stage the class of musicians is top notch. When do you go? I’m in Barcelona for a week in March (bass in hand ready for these jams)

But to get them to visit something like this would superb. We live in rural North Wales. This stuff is like access to another world.
tayste_2000
Yeah we’ll just miss each other I’m there in a month. Both places are great and really friendly crowds
Crusoe
The London Bar. We were in it about 18 years ago. There was a band playing and in the local accent, they sang Moostahng Sallee. It's a cracking bar, though. https://maps.app.goo.gl/6SozxDXmXbDNGrti6
Paul S
If you have a passing interest in architecture then soak up as much Gaudi as you can - his stuff isn't to be found in many other places. The Sagrada Familia is off the scale.
