rmorris
Asking the collective here...what do you recommend for a neck cradle. In specifics I want to stabilise basses to file nut slots. I see people using / recommending all types of things from a bag of rice, those "rocking" supports that you can also turn over for greater lateral support, to the Dunlop black one that looks good to me but a bit £££ if it doesn't hit the spot for this. Advice appreciated.

kodiakblair
I just made one from scrap timber, took about 10 minutes all in 👍
rmorris
Thanks for the input. Just wanting to keep it rock solid stable. For general woodwork etc I'd just say just clamp it in a vice. But, you know, these are my babies (along with catboy 😊).

I was looking at that one. I thought it might be a bit lightweight for fretwork but maybe I'm wrong about that 🤔 Edited February 16 by rmorris

KingBollock
I use a sandbag rifle support. Once filled with sand they get quite heavy and sturdy. But you could also fill them with beanbag beans for a more lightweight solution. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185027001692

Matt P
I made do with a bit of wood and a folded towel for ages then I got one of these, does the job perfectly, not worth an order on it's own but as part of a bigger order (or if a friend is putting in an order) than it's worth it.
