How are these compared to the 40th anniversary Squiers? Still kicking myself for not picking one up when they were £259 at Thomann.

Nice bass, but not quite as good as my Vintage 40th-Anniversary Jazz, which I believe is right up there with my Crafted In China CV.

But it is a crafted in china CV that is being mentioned here?

CV have been Indonesian made since 2019-ish, same time as they introduced laurel boards. They're still well made but there is a reputation for the first run CIC stuff being especially well done - the red 60s Precision in particular seems to go for a bit more than the rest.

I have the same Inca Silver CIC as in the pic above and it's been a workhorse, but I also have an Indonesian Late 50s P which is just as solid and has actually become my main bass since I got it.

I had a CIC Inca Silver Jazz too. Solid bass but way overhyped for what they were.

The 40th Anniversary models were(are) superb. I went into purchase what I thought would be a US model or Custom Shop Precision but the Squier was just as well built, played just as nicely and sounded phenomenal.

Classic Vibe was mentioned.

The CIC in my photo is a CV.

Someone asked how the current CV Jazz bass compared to the 40th anniversary Squier Jazz.

The current CVs aren't as good as the older ones.

They aren't as good as the 40th-Anniversary Jazz basses.

Opinion, of course, but an opinion with some weight behind it.
