Burns-bass Posted April 9, 2023 Share Posted April 9, 2023 I have started playing some outdoor gigs with double bass (you could call it busking, I guess) and I need a battery powered amp. I’ve used the Roland cubes which are fine, but necessitate a lot of batteries, so I’d prefer one with an internal battery. Any recommendations? David I just want s simple solution. I’ve got festival mates who build stuff but I’d prefer a single box, covered by a manufacturers warranty. I've recently found the Krisdonia range of Laptop Power Bricks, I use one (The 25,000 mAh) to power my Dwarf Multi F/X unit and it works a treat (I still run my Amp off rechargable AAs)! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Krisdonia-25000mAh-Portable-Charger-Projector/dp/B078XPYH4R https://www.amazon.co.uk/Krisdonia-50000mAh-Power-Portable-Charger/dp/B077TR3H2R/ They provide selectable output voltages (5/9/12/16/20) up to 3A with various adaptor tips (as well as USB ports) You could then carry on with whichever Amp you've got. S'manth x It’s a good suggestion, however the only amps I have are all using AC power (kettle lead). It's a heavy little chap even without the battery. You can also run one from a much bigger battery with some phono leads, but now we're talking serious trolley. Aidan63 Posted April 12, 2023 Share Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) The older version of the Phil Jones Double 4 uses 20v d.c laptop like external power supply so running it on suitable rechargeable external battery packs works fine, I get 4 hours run time on my PowerAdd 2300mA battery; 70W compact combo with adjustable aux in, single channel amp with gain and a seperate output volume and the PJB clean sound and space filling projection, with useful bass, mid and treble tone controls, standby and switchable hi and low impedance input to suit passive and active instruments and or pedal boosted input chain I just fix the battery pack to the side of the combo with velcro makes it less than 2cm bigger Edited April 12, 2023 by Aidan63 added detail 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
