For some reason my fretting fingers just wouldn’t work on some songs this evening, no idea why as other more complex passages were fine. Still a great time though, and as not a gigging band I’ll not waste any sleep over it. I had that with my plucking fingers at last gig on just one song that i've been playing for past 6yrs (Ballroom Blitz mid section where bass ties in with drums) I ended up having to ad-lib it as best i could. Its not even a fast or hard part. I just couldn't get it right in my head. Old age doesn't come itself @Lozz196. That's my excuse anyways. 😂 Dave 2 Quote

Makes you work for your money on the night. 😂 I used to play in a "Friends of DP" tribute and we covered any band that was directly linked to DP which allowed us Rainbow, Whitesnake, DP and even Sabbath thru Dio. Loved playing Stargazer, that was one of my all time favs. So much energy and emotion in that song for a bassist. IMO of course. Dave 2 Quote

Leonard Smalls Posted yesterday at 15:06 Posted yesterday at 15:06 Had a rehearsal booked today. Message from drummer saying he's put his back out, then singer messages saying she's dribbling with cold... But we went ahead anyway - I got the album drum stems on the laptop, plugged it into the PA and we did a 2 basses and guitar rehearsal. And it was excellent! We've ironed out some of the niggles between the 2 basses, and new guitarman now has all structures, and can do the widdley bits with me and solos that fit over funky slap stuff. So extremely worthwhile - should now be fine for Rebellion with 3 more full band rehearsals and warm-up gig to go. 7 Quote

Excellent, quite typically although I’m now back as a stand-in for Knock Off they don’t have Rebellion this year so won’t get the chance to see you there, am sure our paths will cross soon tho. 2 Quote

WalMan Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago We still roll out Stormbringer at selected gigs. I would have said we don’t do much DP, but expanded out to associated bands over the years we have actually done quite a few 2 Quote
asingardenof Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Bit late as our rehearsal was a week ago Sunday. We had two new songs to learn, Shout and Somewhere In My Heart, and we pretty much nailed it. Hoping to get another rehearsal in before our gig, but it will depend on how Mrs asingardenof recovers from her c-section. Having a rehearsal two days after baby 2 was born wasn't the plan, as the due date was two weeks afterwards. Before we started our keyboardist, who has suffered from a few health issues (both mental and physical) mentioned that he would see how the next couple of gigs went before deciding whether to pack it in at the end of the year. He has though recently stopped smoking (though started vaping) and was looking better than I've seen him for a while, and he seemed to be having a great time, so we'll see how it goes. I'm not sure what that would mean for the band, because he's a founding member from many years ago, as well as a friend of the singer and drummist, so I suspect that if he goes then the band will fold. If that does happen I doubt our singist and drummist will be particularly keen to start a new one, so depending on what our guitarist might want to do I could be looking for another band after Christmas. Ho hum. 1 1 Quote
