I like that - something a bit different than the usual MM fare...

However the UK is just stupid. You could get just about any UK luthier to build you a fantastic custom for that kind of money. If the exchange rates continue to throw up these kinds of prices it could be a good thing for luthiers here, just so long as they can persuade people that their product is far superior to those with famous names on the headstock (which as we all know here they are!)

I believe this design is meant to be a nod to the Grazioso Futurama electric guitar which was Albert Lee's first guitar. It's not a straight steal by Music Man but it's certainly got that 50s Astromatic vibe.
I actually like it a lot... reminds me of Michael Libeskind deconstruction architectural style....

Hooray for Holloway!

I'm not remotely interested in this bass, but I hope they sell the pickups separately. They look like they'll sound amazing.

I really like it too, but I do LOVE the bongo's looks. I don't see how anyone doesn't like it.

It won't be that expensive, surely that is wrong. I mean, no mass produced bass can be THAT expensive?

And it will sound incredible.
I like it, at least its not a Jazz knockoff which I would really hate EB/MM for.
Good point. I agree they get top marks for originality.
Funnily enough it's not the body I hate on the Bongo, it's the headstock.

I really do quite like these, I think it has to be the right colour to make it work for me though but the tonal options should be pretty much everything I need. Hmmm could feel an import coming especially as they are half the UK price!

heres a vid of a guy testing it out.

imo, it sounds horrible, and looks horrible. i think the only attraction here is all the pickup configurations which could fit alot of people's tastes.

I think it sounds pretty good... if you ignore the fizzy recording.

Got to give MusicMan Credit for producing basses that are a little out of the ordinary and a bit radical. This and the Bongo are very different from anything else being produced at the moment. I would hate to see them start doing P-bass and J-bass style basses. It kind of reminds me of when Gibson brought out the Explorer and Flying-V in the late 50's.

Ok Grumble steps up to the plate and shows his usual impecable taste.... yeah I like it :)
But then again I own one of these beauties
and I would love one of these so maybe my tastes arent quite mainstream
That sounds like brand new steel strings before they've done a setup, loadsa trebly rattle.
I agree, first time I have seen the clip but I didn't hear much warm tone to my ears, hope it was his settings as I am sorely tempted by this.
