A very nice example of a Hohner B2V (Passive Electronics) 5 String Headless in Black.

The bass is in great condition considering its age, just minor signs of use ... no major dinks/defects.

Plays nicely, electronics in good working order. Two Volume Control and a Tone Control.

Light weight (circa 3Kg) and compact.

Scale: 34 inches

 

Comes with appropriately sized generic padded gig bag.

I LOVE this bass, the look, the feel, the weight, the sound ... but a 34 inch scale is just too spaced out for me in the money note region; I don’t find it a problem reaching that part of the fretboard, rather … my hand just doesn’t like fanning out the requisite spread to, say, play a major scale pattern (I play using the one finger per fret method) down there; I am experiencing this with all long and medium scale basses and so I’m needing to stick to short scale (or even sub short scale like the 23 inches on my bass ukulele) to play comfortably.

I can relate, it is almost the perfect bass for me ... it's just that my hands (whilst not small) simply cannot manage long scale

Oddly enough I did try that with a long scale fretless but did not think of it for the Hohner (S'manth goes off to find said capo!)

Actually, put it a the second fret and you have a shot scale bass almost exactly.

The thing about these basses is that the neck is pushed out about 2 frets further away from your body.

I have seen strap button extensions to try and redress the balance.

The neck is pushed further away and like you said there are few solutions (see my post below), but there are no balancing issues at all though.

It's a turn of phrase suggesting how to put something right, rather than a suggestion it's literally off-balance.

I’ve got the 4 string and they balance perfectly fine, the frets can feel further away at first but you adjust in minutes, really great basses in every way, GLWYS smanth 👍

FYI, I've got Spirit 4 & 5-string basses and a 6-string guitar and they seem to balance fine!

Yeah, I got the XT-2 and balances fine.

I had to do that mod though, because it caused me issues due to the neck being further away (I hang the bass relatively high and that makes things worse).

Anyway, this is a post about a bass to sell. Sorry for the quick relatively off-topic exchange. I just wanted to say to those who think the neck on this bass is too further away, that there are easy workarounds in case that is a problem. For a lot of people it's not a problem though.

At the risk of this turning into a debate about Steinberger type bass ergonomics and not a For Sale thread, I've got the similar B2AV model with no mods of any sort and have the following observations. I find no problems with balance even with a nylon strap. With regards reaching the fingerboard down to the nut I don't find it a problem and I've had an operation on my left shoulder that limits my left arm movement. Perhaps the trick is to allow the strap at the neck end strap button to drape down vertically from your left shoulder and then it sits very naturally much like a 'normal' bass.

Hope this reassures any potential buyers that mods aren't required if you don't want to do them.

Someone has suggested I try the Simandl fingering approach to address my fretting hand discomfort, I’m going to give it a go and so I am withdrawing the Hohner for now.
