Roundwound strings with the most mids

Recommended Posts

Very rough estimation is that nickel RWs have flatter response (more middle), and SSs sound a bit like smiley eq curve.

I have this same opinion and tried both strings on different basses

D'Addario nickel rounds and maybe Elixir Nanowebs work for me for mid punch, as I call it :)

+1 on both counts. Took the recommendations right out of my mouth!

For what it’s worth, the Elixirs will hold their tone far longer than the D’Addarios due to being coated, but they are of course more expensive as a result. Potentially worth it though if you’d rather spend less time changing strings.

Definitely not Pro steels I can tell you that, put those strings on a dark sounding bass and say goodbye to being able to hear yourself

Another vote for the D’Addarios. Lifelong steel user, put a set on my Dimension and I’m never going back. They suit pick, fingers and slap really well IMO. And a reasonable price and everyone stocks them

I want to love Elixirs but due to my massively incompetent pick technique I seemed to shred the coating off them!
