Shimmer 'verb recommendations please

Recommended Posts

Basschatters,

Please can I get your recommendations to shimmer-up my shizzle. My start-point is Neunaber's Immerse v1/v2 which is the nuclear option but would like to hear other suggestions to explore too.

How much do you want to spend? You've got the Meris Mercury 7 that will give you shimmer, Eventide Space and Pitchfactor do it as well.

Maybe one of the Korg multis? Shimmer is just reverb + blended octave up so anything that would allow you to stack those would give you the shimness.

That is very helpful thank-you. Something to explore on my GT-1B multi-effects... Oh wait, what about polyphony for chords?... Tricky. Anyway, keep the suggestions coming... TC Electronics Florescence looming large in my research.

Mr Black Eterna has been my go to shimmer reverb pedal for years. I've actually got 2 of them but thinking of putting one for sale soon if that is of interest?

Shimverb by err Mooer? Or similar. £20 on ebay often.

Well I realise my question was clumsy... I meant also that works well for bass...

I've not heard a shimmer done as well as the Neunaber stuff. Sounds more complex and ethereal than most, without being shrill or having any glitchy artifacts. Bear in mind that they have quite a few pedals that can do shimmer, such as the Wet reverb, plus many of the pedals can be re-programmed to be a totally different pedal. So if you see their chorus cheap on eBay for example, you can hook it up to a computer and turn it into a reverb pedal.

I have the Neunaber Slate which means I can load any of their FXs into it. It goes without saying it shimmers like moonlight on a lake. It does lovely things on bowed Double Bass. But the ExP pedal extra bit enables you to have 4 different Neunaber pedal with 2 versions of each. I keep thinking of shifting it and going Mutli FX but it does make a lovely noise. The chorus is lush as well.

The Digitech Polara has a "Halo" mode which is their shimmer and it's pretty good, but it certainly doesn't have a great deal of tweekable parameters.

I mention it because it would probably help you rule it out if that effect is what you really need.

I like the shimmer on the RV6, never tried it or heard it on bass though.

Bass demo here:

Some nice reverbs but the shimmer sounds a bit metallic? I aiming for a softer pad sound but I'm sensing you can only achieve that on the expensive units...

Fuzzrocious Rat King - £110 SOLD!
      Fuzzrocious Afterlife - £90
      Fuzzrocious Heliotropic - £130 SOLD!
Neunaber Wet Stereo v2 with  ExP Controller - £190

      Fuzzrocious Afterlife reverb - £90
This is the (cooler) bigger version of the Afterlife, has 2 outputs so you can make yourself feel sick with some back and forth stereo reverb! This pedal can do subtle or get crazy with oscillations. Sounds good for bass, guitar and synth.
Neunaber Wet Stereo v2 with ExP Controller - £200
One of the best reverb pedal available! Incredibly versatile with some of the best algorithms around. A Strymon killer with a much smaller footprint.
Using the Neunaber's expanse software you can load up to 4 of Neunabers algorithms which include: 7 types of Reverb, 2 Shimmers, 6 Delays / Echos, 10 Chorus, 1 Flanger, 2 Phasers, 2 Tremolo and 2 different types of hold/freeze effect. The software also allows you to tweak lots of hidden parameters like pre-delay, tone and resonant frequency which can't be adjusted directly from the pedal.
The Neunaber ExP Controller unleashes the full functionality of your Neunaber Expanse-series pedal—four programmable effects with two presets each, three expression inputs (one for each knob), and a Preset Morph expression input. Multi-color LEDs uniquely identify effects/presets and are easily seen from a distance.
(Both the pedal and controller are £300 to buy new together so grab yourself a bargain!)
All pedals are in very good condition with velcro on the back. The Rat King has some scratches and marks with velcro on the back.
Collection from Crawley or can post for postage fee.
