tayste_2000
Now this is something new I picked up and you have to guess the effect I'm using to produce this sound http://myselfalone.com/tayste2000/Weird_Effect.mp3 I will tell you what I've used except for the mystery item. Passive 60's RI MIM Fender Jazz with Flats, tone rolled all the way back and neck pickup with a Digitech PDS2000 set for about 5ish repeats at less than a second just for that bit of ambience then it is straight into my computer hence the odd pops and stuff dotted about but you'll get the gist. So guess the effect
ped
Loads of reverb set to bass and 100% wet? Slow Gear? It sounds like a whale giving birth to a tugboat... do they make a pedal of that?

joegarcia
Is it just an analogue delay that you can mix the dry signal out like my old Carlsbro one?

tayste_2000
What was used to make the sound other then bass and a delay pedal
ShergoldSnickers
A compressed air line pointed at the strings to get them vibrating. If it's not that, then I claim copyright! Mmmm I can see it now, a 'Vibratair' pedal with mini compressor and a key press arrangement over each string to deliver the air. Well it might work. dr.funk
Fretless simulator? Or a delay set to loads of repeats with an incredibly short time..
ShergoldSnickers
It sounds like something mechanically sounding the strings. I experimented years ago with a small motor to which a wheel was attached. The outer edge of the wheel was soft rubber and it made a similar sound when gently pressed against a string. I got lots and lots of hum from the motor though. In fact Kevin Godley and Lol Creme used a similar but professionally developed device called a 'Gizmo'. This was attached to the bridge of a guitar and small wheels could be made to 'bow' the strings by pressing down buttons. Its a long shot, but it sounds as if it ought to be something like this. Alpha-Dave
I assume the delay is responsible for the 1/4 second repeats. Sounds a lot like a synth with all the attack is removed. The notes ring out a lot on the lows and hight so a ring modulator would seem likely, but I couldn't guess the brand.
