You could gig with something like a PJB a Suitcase. I had the Flightcase, which didn't quite manage with other than acoustic or quiet amplified instruments in anything apart from lounge type venues in my experience. I sold it and got another PJB cab and use 1, 2 or 3 of them with my head depending on the venue/band.

Thanks for this. Just had a look on Bass Direct at some PJB stuff... the Compact Suitcase at 300W @ 8ohms looks favourite. But it's out of stock.

I think the best combination of power, tone, portability and affordability would probably be a second-hand Markbass CMD 121P, or some such.

Agree re. the MB combo. PJB stuff ain't cheap and in terms of sound for the pound, you can do better, especially used. I borrowed a MB 102P combo recently and was surprised how much poke it had. Real kick in the chest sound and plenty of volume. They turn up used from time to time

Yes, pretty much convinced re Markbass, having used and owned their gear for many years, they don't disappoint in the power and tone department. It's just a case of choosing and then sourcing the lightest possible combo with the most bang for buck. My shrivelled muskles and crumbly skellington can't cope with much over 14kg.

Check out the latest Markbass Ninja 2x10 with the 500 watt head combo....another cab can be added if needed to this combo. There is a 250 watt Ninja combo.

Yep, I have one of these too, also bought second-hand for just under £100
It's great for keeping under the coffee table or in the corner, plus it's damn handy for carting to guitarists (other musicians are available!) houses for a jam
I take it along to acoustic pub jams too. It's really handy, as it will run on AA batteries. Fab little thing, and louder than you might think

Sounds good to me. Markbass are fairly pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Not really.  The  Pjb compact suitcase is a great combo, but quite heavy.  I've a flightcase that is much lighter, and a bit smaller, but it isn't loud and still won't quite hide behind the sofa.  It is giggable for quiet / acoustic stuff but needs a pb300 beneath it to he heard over loud drummers and guitarists. 

A double 4 or bass cub plugged into a PB 300 is a good modular solution .. but I guess so is a gk mb200 combined with a small and a large cab

To the OP I'd say Roland micro cube.
