Absolutely on both counts. I didn't know just how funny he was till I saw a clip from the talk-radio show he used to do. it was from the excellent documentary "Only the Strong Survive", which unfortunately went a little under the radar as it was released in the same year as that other great soul documentary, "Standing in the Shadows of Motown".

Yes.
Actually, that TV series co hosted by Sanborn had some great artists on it.
For the life of me, I can't understand how Jools Holland was co hosting it as well ?

Bumped into him in Centennial Park Nashville back in the eighties. Only this time he was wearing a paisley pattern powder blue matching shirt and bermuda shorts!
What a character & a real nice guy. And yes, funny as hell.
Beck then I suspect he spent as much time in Nashville as he did in Memphis.
And let us not forget Carla, is no slouch either.
