That was funny. Clearly I have too much time on my hands today:
He's modified his description now, which is a bit of a shame as I was looking forward to the BS. :)

Considering the rubbish that gets written about 70s Fakers & Jap copies in general, both on Ebay & on less specialised forums than this one, I think it's pretty likely that a lot of people were under the impression they were all "made by Ibanez".

In this guy's case I think it was probably general ignorance rather than considered bullsh!t - my message would have been very easy to ignore, never mind publish on his listing.

Keeping the same price is beyond mental, though.

If he has a watcher, its worth leaving at that price, and I know he has at least one watcher.

Just in case anyone was looking to upgrade their RickenFaker ...

Without doing any research at all, that looks like a pretty decent price to me.

It ain't at all bad, and you hardly ever see the aluminium ones in the UK. If that was black I'd be all over it.

And no, these are not for real Rickenbackers. We must consider Mr Hall's blood pressure, and maintain the long-held tradition of hit-or-miss saddle height & intonation. And palm-muting? Never!!! :) :)

I think so, also the same as Annoying Twit's Cimar & my Frankenbugger. Absolutely no idea who made them though, which is irritating.
I bought one. It deviates a fair bit from a Ric. It's very nice though.

He does these in red with black binding/scratchplate now - can't say I'm not tempted. Any danger of a brief review?

A brief review as I haven't had it long.

Finish is really excellent. Hardware is good quality. Neck is like a very slightly shallower Precision. Fretwork is good. The frets are low and thin vintage stylee. Weight is about 8 1/2 lbs. It's very easy to play.
Pickups have a lot of output. Lots of growl and a nice snarly rasp too if you get my drift. Really pushes an amp without being boomy. The neck took a while to settle but it had been travelling in different temperatures for a while before I got it.
Thanks Parcelfarce for the additional 3 days in an unheated depot.

Slight niggles. Vol & Tone do nothing much until they hit zero. I'll replace these. Side dots on the neck are tiny and done in MOP so I can barely see them. I'll get stickers. Fingerboard was dry as a bone. Gave it a bit of oil. Apart from that it's great. I'll probably swap the pickups as I can never resist doing this even when I don't need to.

A bargain at £249.

Cheers for that - now, can I resist buying myself a nice red one for Christmas? Even though I don't do Christmas? :)
