Old Horse Murphy Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) For sale is my stunning Mike Lull M4V (modern vintage with active circuit) Jazz bass in sunburst. It comes with the Batrolini preamp and Fralin pickups and plays and sounds wonderful. Controls are vol/blend/treble/ stacked mid and bass pot (passive bypass on the treble pot when pulled out). Weight-wise it's the lightest bass I've owned (under 8lbs) and the neck is simply superb. It's an Ash body and the neck has a stunning maple neck (the fingerboard is gorgeous birds eye). The action/playability is lovely and low so it's an easy, effortless bass to play. Each one is hand-built by Mike Lull and fully PLEKD at the workshop. It also comes with a brand new Protec Contego Gigbag and one black and one white pickguard. Condition-wise it's mint apart from a tiny ding just above the strap button on the top horn. I managed to do it while changing the original strap pins to Schaller straplocks Unfortunately due to work commitments, I can't justify 2 basses of this quality and value, so the last one in has to go. I'm looking for £1,750 for this. Current retail price is well over £2k with this spec and with the active electronics. It can be picked up from either Woking (weekends) or Bristol (weekdays). I would also be happy to post. ikay Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Nick, is the Aquilar eq 3-band or 2-band and does it have a passive switch with passive tone control? Also is it configured as Vol/Vol or Vol/Blend? Thanks

Not sure where I got Aguilar from Controls are vol/blend/treble/stacked mid and bass pot. There's passive bypass on. The treble pot (a pull out).
Chiliwailer Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) Oh my, that is stunning. I'm off to Seattle in September and will pop into Mike Lull's place, I have a funny feeling I won't be coming home empty handed..... GLWTS, she's a beauty Edited August 16, 2014 by Chiliwailer
ikay Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Ta Nick. When in passive mode does the treble pot function as a passive tone?
Chiliwailer Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014
Thanks, hmm!!
Hmmm, I reckon you should mate
ikay Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) "Hmmm, I reckon you should mate" Hehe, the voice of temptation! I love the '57 Dan, it's a great player and gets regularly gigged. I've reverted completely to using my old Fenders since getting it. Coming over all vintage in my old age! I do like this M4V though ... Edited August 16, 2014 by ikay
Chiliwailer Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 That's wondeful to hear Ian, that '57 P deserves to be regularly gigged, such a beauty - I fondly remember that huge tone and killer neck! Yeah, back to this L-O-V-E-L-Y MV4, if I didn't already have hopes on a MV5 when I visit Mike Lull in September I reckon I'd have a very hard time not going for this one. Great bass, my fave colour and a stunning maple neck....hmm indeed!
Old Horse Murphy Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 I think you should BOTH buy it and have joint custody
molan Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I've played this and it really is an excellent bass. In fact it's the nicest Lull J I've played!
Old Horse Murphy Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 Just answering a couple of questions that I thought I'd share rather than by PM: The white pickguard is the original one but the black one was bought from Mike Lull, so both are original Lulls I'm not interested in trades thank you
dougal Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Will someone please take this before I do something I regret involving selling a kidney...
alyctes Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014
Will someone please take this before I do something I regret involving selling a kidney...
Well, I was going to suggest that kidneys don't hold their value these days, but I guess that depends whose it is...
