Chicago, BS&Ts & Bands with Horn Sections

Just been reminded in the Peter Cetera thread of how good Chicago were for those short few years in the late 60s / early 70s. Blood Sweat & Tears were up there with them but there were also a few great bands around like Chase (led by trumpeter Bill Chase), Dreams (Randy Brecker was also in BS&T), Tower Of Power and of course Electric Flag.

I miss those horn sections!

Was thinking about this last night.
We have a special gig planned and I think a horn section will top it off.
Trouble is we can't use them in the entire set...and so they will be expensive per song..
Really keen on the idea tho and I know the one I want isn't working that day... hmmmm

I'd jump on the chance, if it was at all possible. B)

Just thought of another long running band with a horn section....."Roomful of Blues".

... and then there was 'Kiemsa', the band for which I did the lights in their first years (our eldest, Abel on guitar...)...

Even though they made a lot of terribly tacky stuff alongside some great tracks, I've always loved Ekseption. They'd have two horns most of the time, but during two or three periods had three (two saxes and one trumpet).

But here's something else: Motorpsycho and the horns from Jaga Jazzist.
This happened after they'd gotten inspired by a one-off concert together when someone discovered that the bands' paths would cross when they were doing coastal Norway but in opposite directions.

A simple song, but good fun, methinks. For slightly more special stuff, check the song "Tristano".

Not to mention Ska + Reggae of course...

Then there's the big band stuff

Oh, there's also the sax in the Dave Brubeck band

And the backing sections for a whole range of 50's stuff
