Ashdown knobs

I have an Ashdown EB 15-180 combo, and all the knobs on it are the same size. The thing is that on all the sales product pictures the Lo-Mid and Hi-Mid knobs are smaller, like so:

And indeed as I took out one of these knobs I realised that their larger size was hiding some of the markings on the front panel (the 0 and full dot markers). So it seems that they were always intended to have smaller knobs, to me it makes a lot of sense and it also looks nice!
So, does anyone know where I can find smaller knobs to replace mine? I looked at pages and pages of knobs, large ones, small ones, soft ones, dull ones and shiny ones but I haven't found the perfect knob. I am not really sure what they are called but I could find some that are very similar (davies 1510 19mm I think) but they have a screw to hold them in place. I'd rather have push-on types like the originals. Oh, I did ask Ashdown and the ones they sell are the larger ones, they don't supply the smaller type.

I don't think it matters much - it's what you do with it that counts.

Over the years I've had to shout Ashdown a couple of times about things and have generally found them to be pretty accommodating...they've never actually charged me for anything!

How about these?

Of course it depends on the size of your shaft.

Edit: Just noted that the minimum order is 100. Not that useful, then.
Unless you can find 50 people with the same problem.

Or these... you can't argue with the price. :)

Yes, these would be the ones. Now someone must be buying these in bulk, surely. But where are they? It seems nobody sells those by the unit.
Hmm, it does say free sample available... <_<

I think I'll have another stab at them. The guy did say they use them on the newer models (the Evo III ones?) but they don't sell them separately.

Just outright ask for some. They can only say no.

  • 1 month later...

So I asked Ashdown, I was probably too nice and they kinda said no. I trawled the internet and eventually found some suitable knobs on ebay US, shipping directly from China. They are not perfect but they fit nicely, no grub screws. I have only just put them on, I haven't had much time to fully appreciate the change (?) but I think it is pretty obvious that the amp face was designed to have smaller knobs in the places I replaced them:

Yes, that was quite disappointing, they can't cost very much, but in fairness there was nothing wrong with the knobs I wanted to replace, that is how the amp was shipping.
Anyway, I am happy with the result!
