discreet
Vintage V4 P Bass - £175 FYI - if you're on a budget and want a playable P bass, DV247 are selling the Vintage V4 P for £175: http://www.dv247.com...ar-white--74744 I haven't had the pleasure myself, but they are good basses by all accounts. Here's a review from BGM: http://www.jhs.co.uk...BassJan2012.pdf Wilkinson pickups and hardware have a good rep. There were originally sold at £269. I'm looking for a second/back-up bass myself, so... I have no affiliation with or interest in John Hornby Skewes & Co Ltd, btw! Lozz196
That`s silly money. I`ve played one of these - albeit briefly - and was very impressed. One of these as a backup would be a good idea, or as a bass to start out on, well i wish starter basses had been like this when I started out. bassmachine2112
I,ve got one and for the price it,s a good gigging bass. Had it for a few years now and still going strong.
tommorichards
ive got a vintage v96 (jazz) and it sounds immense. Nothing on it altered from stock. I was playing along to some songs from RHCP's "im with you" and i was surprised as to how almost identical it sounded to the songs.
Green Alsatian
I've had two over the last few years and they're well worth it for the price. The vintage white/maple one I had was really nice - felt no urge to modify it, other than changing the strings as it sounded fine as-is. Jellyfish
The V4 in our shop (sunburst) has been £175 for about 4-5 months now. I eye it up every few days but try and convince myself that I don't need it. They are brilliant basses though. It's quite heavy, but the neck is impressively comfortable. RandomBass
I've owned the bog standard V4, and the Tony Butler version. Both brilliant basses for the money. Each weighed a fraction over 4kg. Highly recommended.

Mr. Foxen
I've picked up a few of these on ebay/gumtree knowing the hardware will sell easily if I part it out. They've all been nice enough instruments to survive complete.

That's heavy to me, but then I don't play Fender's (which I know can vary quite a bit!)

Marvin
The bass player in my drummer's other band plays a V4. Weight can't be that much of an issue, she's quite a slight person.

Marvin
Outrageous! Are there replacement pickguards for these though? Unless it's on a white bass I have a deep seated dislike of white pickguards. :/

dazza14
[sup]I owned one of these last year, asked the Bass Doc to make me up a 3-ply BWB scratch guard and away i went...[/sup] [sup]Great bass, i picked mine up 2nd hand at the Bay and was really, really pleased with it. Apart from the neck was like a damn banana!![/sup] [sup]Sold it to someone that didn't care so that was that but i'd definitely try another one.[/sup]
