I love Lakland basses. I have waited 30 years for a Geezer signatue model. Lakland are doing one. US spec only at mega bucks. No Skyline for us weekend warriors. :( :( :(

No Geezer Skyline yet . If there is significant demand then they will consider introducing a Skyline version . I would be quite hopeful on that . ;)

Arse. What's the difference in specs between the Butler and the Glaub?
Not that much from what I can see , apart from cosmetic things like the striped black anodised aluminium scratchplate and the inlays . As far as I know the pickup is a standard Hanson / Lakland Neo Punch ,and the nut width is 1.75 like the Glaub .

If it's just cosmetic then I'm no that bothered - I love the 5th fret inlay, but don't really like the cross inlay on the headstock or the stripy black pickguard, may as well go for a black Glaub.

The one they did for NAMM had the nicest piece of rosewood I think I've ever seen for the fretboard though.

Graham. no idea apart from the cosmetics.
Dingus, I have an email received from Lakland this afternoon. No plans, period, for a Skyline.

I am surprised at that because I heard someone else ask John Pirrucello and I'm sure he said it was a possibility sometime in the future . They make a Far East version of all the other Signature models , so never say never ( or never say die , if you want to exploit the Sabbath thing ) . Maybe because the real differences between this Geezer bass and a Glaub are so small that they can't really see the point of making a Skyline . If it is any consolation , have you thought of trying to get a used USA Glaub ? There a quite a few out there nowadays and they crop up at sensible money now and again The Skylines are good but the USA basses are one of the few high end basses that are worth the money , in my opinion . The quality is fantastic and they are beautifully made .

Calming down a bit, I guess I could source a pickguard like that (Bass Doc hopefully). I can very probably get similar inlay/headstock stickers from CC in the States.
I have a black Skyline Glaub with Fralin, as a weekend warrior of only 45 ish gigs per year, I can't afford or justify a US Lakky. The Skylines are superb anyway.

They made him a bass , but I don't think it was a signature model , strictly speaking .
They made a number of prototypes and Geezer played a few on stage for a number of years meaning if anyone wanted a version they could order it. I'm not aware that there was significant demand though. So if by signature model you mean they put it into production, then no strictly speaking it wasn't a signature model but Jaydee don't have a production line to speak of either. Howwever if you asked John Diggins tomorrow to make you one, I'm confident he would.

You won't pay anything like that for it in the States , but yes , it's a lot of money . Lakland build about three hundred USA basses a year , which isn't that many considering worldwide demand and they are meticulously built to a very high standard so you can see where they get the price from.

You could get a vintage Eagle for that, and feel a lot more Geezer.

It's a nice bass but I don't really get the striped pickguard.

I remember when they had Geezer's actual Eagle for sale in the Bass Centre at Wapping , and it was only about £600 . This was in about 1990 , but that was still pretty reasonable money back then .

Fashion is , by its' very nature , cyclical and at that time those basses were out of fashion at that time , but not old enough to be "vintage " . The resurgence of interest in BC Rich started around 1991 when Slash was seen playing a vintage Mockingbird guitar in the video for You Could Be Mine .

Inlay of the new album has a picture of Geezer playing a Fender (or one of those Nash basses with a Fender decal).
I think he has got a selection of beautiful old Fenders he records with . I read somewhere in an interview with Geezer that when his sister in Birmingham moved house a few years ago she found an old Precision Bass he had left with her for safekeeping back in the early 1970's that he had no recollection of whatsoever , and he was knocked out with what a great bass it was . I think he probably favours the Laklands for his touring basses as they are more robust and reliable than his old Fenders whilst still keeping keeping that vintage Fender vibe .
