I'm amazed - ebay is insane!

Here we have a Fender Bridge Cover for a Precision Bass :

End price £30 + P&P.

The seller has sold quite a few of these at £19.50, £31 and £41 each (see their feedback). I gave up at £12 and ordered one from Allparts (a Fender one) for £16.21 plus post :

In stock - so why the huge ebay prices? I know I bought one of the Pickup covers (at a few pounds over normal retail) as they seem to be like Hens Teeth in the UK but the bridge cover is easily available! Even on ebay there is another seller selling the bridge cover at £15 Buy-it-now!

Madness!!!!

Andy :)

I've seen people buy a really old beaten up sofa-bed for just over £160 on Ebay, (here in Thetford) when there's new, bigger, better ones going for £40 pounds less in Argos!

Either these people are stupid, and haven't heard the concept of shopping around, or they're just so determined to beat the other bidder they go stupid :)

I was recently looking for a cheapish bass and was amused at some of the prices people were bidding. Whether there was any shill bidding going on I don't know. 2nd hand stuff going for above new prices then, in some cases having to add £20 plus for postage.

Believe it or not I have Leatherman PST tools listed on a Buy It Now for £17 whilst simultaneously listing an identical item auction style... the auction item was bid and won @ £21! OK that is one person that could have saved a few quid if they had searched my items but I also sold another identical item minutes later to the 2nd highest bidder via a 2nd chance offer.

Hmmm am I complaining :)

I've used CH Guitars before for cheap bits'n'bobs, they are good to deal with but to be honest you gets what you pays for.
I got a black Hipshot-esque bridge from them and the paint scratches pretty easy - the metal in their screws can be a bit weak too, ok if you are gonna put them in and leave them I guess, but I got some machinehead screws which had to come out after I'd seated the tuners and they were knackered first time so I had to get more. I would buy from them again if needs be but I'm just saying don't expect too much.
