I'd like one for my 83 Jazz, but it's an all in one PG. I just got quoted £170 from Sims as they are tricky to make apparently.

Where can I get one at a reasonable price? Anyone here had one made?

Cheers!
Nx

Thanks very much mate, but that's a normal Jazz PG, I need the one piece PG with the controls mounted on it. Can't find one anywhere!

Like this ..

Can't help you I'm afraid but I hope you find one because that would look stunning!

:gas:

Thanks Paul. I know :D The ivory pup covers and knobs on gold, with the black and maple is making me salivate, I might get one for my matching Strat too!

Wickid! Thank you! I have emailed them.

Sims have got me a little worried though, they told me the process and why it costs so much, so I hope it's not going to end up being a nightmare.

"We have to scan, create plot lines, cut out, sand, pollish, acid etch & then post out for anodising, pay for post out & return from the anodising company. It takse arround 3 to 4 weeks to complete. We certainly don't go booking our hollidays in the bahamas on the back of getting an anodised pickguard order that's for sure but that's what it takes to make a one off that is of good quality."

What about the Bass Doc Nige?
Yeah, Bass Doc and Shuker are on my list to contact now. Jon made me a brilliant mirror PG for my home build, but again, it's quite expensive as he had to make a template.

Thanks G.

Strangely - they do turn up from time to time in Uncle Horrid's garage ;) I just recently scored a Jazz gold anodised plate from him - rare as a rare thing with bells & knobs on :) Mines going on an faded Olympic White, rosewood board fretless.

You never know he might have a Jazz 'onesie' plate somewhere B)

Best of luck.

I made a mirror plate from the original white one, covered with what is basically sticky back plastic. A Stanley knife and 15 minutes and I was done. Can't find a "flat" gold sticky back plastic though!. When I sold the bass, I took the mirror effect sticky back plastic off. No residue, good as new. Looks like I will be going with an option Sims suggested ..

"We can do a brushed gold with black plasic backing for £50.00 + £4.50 P&P in the UK. The top layer feels like metal but the backing is black plastic"
That sounds like the material Howard offered me at first when I enquired about a gold plate, have you asked him about that option? He might save you a bit on £54.50 :o Sims prices

No, Howard gave me another option but would rather go with the brushed gold metal-topped black backing mate. Thanks though. I don't think 54 quid's too bad tbh. The blank costs £30.

I have an 83 plate which I offered to have sprayed gold but I can also do the 'gold backed by black plastic' option. Forgot to mention that to Nigel.

PM for a competitive quote if required ;)
Ahh! There we are then! Please PM me a quote Howard, thanks!
