tommorichards Posted June 12, 2013 Share Posted June 12, 2013 I'm building a bass at the moment, and ive done a bit of routing where i needent have. So im wondering if anyone out there has a big ol pile of dust from sanding some light coloured wood? The bass is ash, so anything in that colour region would be awesome. About a cupful would be idea, as it would be stored for later use. But anything round a handful would be well appreciated. Ive had a look around ebay for this sanding dust and come up short, and ive had a go at wood filler, but its not that great. Cheers Chaps. If its large enough to require that amount of sawdust I would probably try getting an offcut of ash and crafting a piece the right size and shape. tommorichards Posted June 13, 2013 Author Share Posted June 13, 2013 I was basically routing around a pickup hole to make room for a sunken pickup cover to lie flat with the surface. But its quite rough. About 5mm all around and about 3mm deep. I was planning on making a larger pickguard to completely cover it anyway, but just so when i took it off, it would look alright. Im after the stuff left over from when sanding. @dingus. i could, but it would take too long, and i dont really want to as it would turn me into a sandstorm. My current project is unsteamed beech, so I have some very pale dust, I'd say not far off ash dust. I have a small Tupperware tub of it ready to send if you PM me your address.
