Big_Stu Posted April 9, 2013 Share Posted April 9, 2013 I am a fan of DB but think that "Ashes" is one of the most passe songs he ever wrote - he's like the Rolling Stones, good at what he does, still putting stuff out but his stardom is based on long past & far better material. squire5 Posted April 9, 2013 Share Posted April 9, 2013 I usually hate slap bass,but in this case it's OK because it's not the usual noise-fest usually associated with that type of playing.That's actually quite melodic and understated,although why G.A.D didn't (or couldn't,which I very much doubt) play it I'll never know.I recently watched a live video of Larry Graham and Mark King on stage together.Turned it off after 30 seconds!Wodda racket!
